Ah, yes. Here we are again. Yet another journey around the sun has given us reason to pause and reflect on how lucky we are to have, almost literally, an indefinite source of music and art to appreciate at any moment in time. In this case, the musical form known as heavy metal. Yes, even in our very defined place in the artistic world, there is an unending wave of inspired music that we endlessly celebrate, together, across the globe. Except… wait, metal internet is basically the worst and ruins everything, doesn’t it? Nevermind. Continue reading

Things That Probably Disappointed Me in 2018 – Corey’s List
Oh boy. Honestly, I probably should have waited until all my year end lists published before diving into albums I had lofty expectations for. Oh well. The good news is, out of the five albums I previewed (which is definitely the wrong word to use here) back in January, four of them have been released and the fifth definitely won’t be anytime soon. If ever. So I can talk about most of these! Shall we? Continue reading
CANTO: Venom, Five Finger Death Punch, A Perfect Circle, and More
I resentfully put this post together tonight.
- Venom are still doing things apparently. Not sure how I/we are just learning about this now, but their latest album, Storm The Gates, will be out December 14th via Spinefarm Records.
- I like A Perfect Circle, I really do. But I don’t quite know why they covered AC/DC‘s “Dog Eat Dog”? I supposed it doesn’t really matter what I know. Give it a listen.
- Five Finger Death Punch have announced their fill-in drummer: Charlie Engen of Scale The Summit. This is a good thing, he’s very talented.
- Here’s a video from something called Black Coast, which sounds kinda cool (the name, not the song – I haven’t listened to that yet). The track is called “Ill Minds” and it features on their new EP titled Ill Minds Vol 1 (Primordial Records).

CANTO: Euronymous Letters, Red Fang Wine, Septicflesh Videos, and More
1/3/2018. I guess it’s going to snow here tonight.
- One of the bigger things to surface recently (to some people that aren’t me) was the Coachella lineup. A whole lotta stuff unrelated to what we cover, but I guess A Perfect Circle is on there. So that’s something.
- This was a weird thing to pop up today. If you want a piece of black metal/Mayhem history, you can purchase some of Euronymous’ original letters. They start at $250 and it looks like there are only a few left.
- More alcohol branding. Red Fang are teaming up with Teutonic Wine Company to bring us the, appropriately titled, Red Fang Red. It’s a bit of unique blend, so I’m curious as to how well it’s received. Since I used to pretend to know things about wine once and stuff.
- Septicflesh have dropped a new video for “Martyr”. They’ll be touring around these parts in the coming months. I’ll be there. I think.

CANTO: RIP Jon Rossi, Amenra Record Release Show, Rock am Ring, and More

10/31/2017. It’s Halloween. That is all.
- To lead things off, we say farewell to Pilgrim’s Jon Rossi. Perhaps old news at this point, but I had to mention. Also known as The Wizard, Jon passed away at the age of 26 last week. I remember seeing Pilgrim last year in Portland. It was incredible. He will be missed dearly. RIP.
- Amenra’s record release show in Brussels is streaming live. You should check it out because those guys are one of my favorites.
- Eilisium and Sleep Signals will be hitting the road at the start of next month. If they roll through your area, go watch some live music.
- I’ve always wanted to check out Rock am Ring, so here are some early band announcements for you. Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, Meshuggah, etc…
- Annihilator have released a music video for “Pieces of You”.
For The Demented will be out this coming Friday. So… get on that and stuff.
