Did everyone survive the wave of shitty April Fools’ jokes? In talking about things that should be retired, that’s really high on the list. However, Metallum did an excellent job with the cat thing, I’ll give them that. Anyway, new week means new metal and for this round we’ve got a fantastic entry from The Lion’s Daughter who dive deeper into horror synth (very, very good thing), a brutal death entry from a band you might need an English major and a doctor’s degree to pronounce, Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, another artsy rock outing from Årabrot who just get better with age, and a chilling post-metal album from Kauan. All that and a bunch more in the list below. Dig it.Continue reading
Last playlist of January and even though it’s a little late, there’s still plenty of time to rip your favorite beverage and jam. I mean, what the hell else you got to do?! Anyway, this week’s edition is stacked with stuff we’ve been digging this week; I’ve got the new Empyrium and 16, Vince has Amulets and Laster, Zyklonius has the new Stortregn, Angela has a cut from Heilung and the new Chelsea/ERR track, Ian brings new Genghis Tron and Tribulation, and Didrik drops new Soen and a pick from Baulds Draumar. All that and so much more behind the play button below. So, drink, listen, and be merry.
At least the snow is pretty today.
- Remember when Gatecreeper released that awesome surprise EP, An Unexpected Reality, a couple weeks ago? Well, their big start to the year just got even bigger as they announced a new deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Does that mean we can have a full-length soon?
- Darkthrone is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Soulside Journey with an incredible new boxset, which they’re calling Shadows Of Iconoclasm. That will be out on April 2nd through Peaceville Records, and can be pre-ordered here. Definitely read up on it, because there is a ton included in that package.
- Harakiri for the Sky released another new one from Mӕre today. This one is called “Song to Say Goodbye”, which is a Placebo cover. Casual reminder that Mӕre is out February 19th through AOP Records and can be scooped up here.
- We’re going to wrap up the day (and possibly the week, at least personally) with a new one from Årabrot. This is the first track taken from the recently announced new album, Norwegian Gothic. That drops on April 9th through Pelagic Records. “The Lie” is available for your streaming pleasure below.
