Wow, an on-time edition of Quickies for a change! Of course it comes on the day that I fail to get a Stage Dive up and running. Blame my day job. Anyway, here’s what we’ve got for you from around the metal world today:
- Noisey published a terrific conversation between Kim Kelly (@GrimKim on the Tweets) and Sam Totman of Dragonforce, calling the band out for its members’ racist and homophobic tendencies in their previous band, Demoniac. Well worth the read. Give ’em hell, Kim.
- More NOT-news from Slipknot on their upcoming album. Really hoping this “marketing strategy” doesn’t come back to bite them in the ass. Oh wait, it’s Slipknot, so I don’t actually care.
- I really, really hate that I’m posting twice about Limp Bizkit in three days, but goddammit, it’s a slow news day. Anyway, some guy got 14 months in jail for stealing 27 cell phones at one of their shows.
- This week’s Billboard charts are out, and dear lord. Ponder this and get depressed, folks: the No. 8 record in America sold only 28,000 and change. Ponder THIS and get even more depressed: it was from Theory of a Deadman.
- Please, please, please let this be real.
- And finally, Triptykon released a video for “Aurorae” today. Check it out:
That’ll do it for tonight. Check back tomorrow for more!
