CANTO: Fires in the Distance, Cynic, Capra, and More

I have gone three days without beer! …But I’ve still had bourbon.

  • A couple premieres from Prosthetic to lead off with. First, check out “Caustic Burns” from Blindfolded and Led to the Woods over at Decibel. That’s taken from Rejecting Obliteration, a May 19 release.
  • From there we have Fires in the Distance, who shared “Crumbling Pillars of a Tranquil Mind” through Invisible Oranges. Air Not Meant for Us is out on Friday.
  • Atheist and Cynic announced a North American tour in June and July. That kicks off on June 10 and will feature the 30th anniversary sets celebrating Cynic’s Focus and Atheist’s Piece of Time, Unquestionable Presence, and Elements releases. General admission tickets open Friday.
  • Across the Atlantic, Capra have announced a European tour covering the end of July and most of August, around some festival dates. Looks like more dates are coming, too. That doesn’t suck.
  • Last but not least, a new clip from Avatar for “Chimp Mosh Pit”. Dance Devil Dance is out now through Black Waltz Records, and they kick off a tour supporting that album at the end of the week.

CANTO: Judicator, Currents, Avatar, and More

I took the day off. So here I am sitting on my couch watching the World Cup.

  • We’ll open with some metalcore. Currents unveiled a new track today, titled “Vengeance”. Give it a listen here. It also sounds like they have a big 2023 lined up, which includes an early tour with Parkway Drive and Memphis May Fire. Here are those dates, if you’re interested.
  • Next, we’ll pivot to some gothic rock. Die Oberherren revealed a new single and video, titled “The Blood or the Wine”. Their debut album, Die By My Hand, is set for a January 27 release through Svart Records.
  • Avatar shared details surrounding Dance Devil Dance, their new album which drops on February 17 through Black Waltz Records. Pre-orders are available here, where you can find the track listing and all that other stuff. Obviously.
  • The Majesty of Decay was officially released to the world today through Prosthetic Records, so it makes sense to end the week with the new music video from Judicator for the title-track from that new album. Give it a watch below, and I’ll catch ya next week.

CANTO: Saor, Cave In, Yatra, and More

Coming at you late tonight, but still coming at you because there is a ton of shit going on.

  • We’ll lead things off with new material from Saor, one of my personal favorites. The new album, Origins, will be out on June 24th through Season of Mist. Check out the video for the title-track here.
  • We’ll jump to a tour next. Avatar have announced a July headlining tour, with Light The Torch and Otep. That kicks off on July 6th in Toronto and ends the 31st in Tucson. Tickets are available here.
  • Oh look, GWAR released a new single. “Mother Fucking Liar” can be streamed here. That’s taken from The New Dark Ages, which drops on June 3rd. As a reminder, they’re on tour in May and June with Goatwhore, The Native Howl, and Nekrogoblikon.
  • Yatra also unveiled a new track today, titled “Death Cantation”, over at Decibel. That’s taken from Born into Chaos, which is slated for a June 10th release through Prosthetic.
  • Finally, from Cave In, the clip for “Blood Spiller” is below. That’s the latest track taken from Heavy Pendulum. As a reminder, that is out on May 20th through Relapse Records, and I cannot wait to get that one in the mail.
