The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 61 (12.22.2018)

playlist - mixtape

Who knew when we started this thing that we’d be 61 volumes deep at this point. I don’t know but I do know that we just love it so there’s that. Brother Vince is off swashbuckling somewhere and probably killing his liver just a little bit more than usual so I’ll be your temporary host – miss me? I didn’t think so. Are we having fun reading all the best of 2018 lists yet? Yep, me too. AND, we will be hosting a few more of those in the coming days so stay tuned for that. Be sure to go back and check out what new blood J and Chris had to offer and you just might find something new or something you forgot about but shouldn’t have. After all, that’s the point. Anyway, you came for another loaded playlist and we’re here to be a blessing in that regard so hit the play button below. Oh and Merry Christmas or Merry Tuesday if you don’t celebrate. See you here next week.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 60 (12.15.2018)

playlist - mixtape

Welcome back y’all.  It’s been an interesting week.  Work sucks (who actually likes their job anyway?) but I’ve been consoling myself by taking extra time in the mornings to take the train to work in lieu of driving.  It gives me time to listen to an album on the way there and an album on the way home, which when coupled with the cold winter air and exercise has been doing wonders for my moods.  It’s also helping immensely when it comes to categorizing my year end list.  I still took time to check out the new song from American Football though; I grew up a sad man from Illinois and I’ll die a sad man from Illinois.  Want to see what else I and my colleagues have been listening to?  Check the playlist below…

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 59 (12.8.2018)

playlist - mixtape

Greetings once again, y’all.  As another week comes to a close, we’ve got another batch of killer songs that we’ve been listening to in our free time to share with you.  It’s a crazy time of year for music listening; there’s a push to finish out the year listening to all the albums still coming out in the next three weeks while also going back over everything that came out earlier in the year to flesh out those year-end lists we all love to read (and yell about) so much.  For now, forget about deadlines and distractions, and enjoy our weekly present to you.  Catch you next week.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 58 (12.1.2018)

playlist - mixtape

Welcome back, y’all.  Sure has been a week, hasn’t it?  Hopefully the week you all have been having has been better than mine, but we’ve officially passed through the tunnel into the light, and I’m grateful to have our little mixtape here to dig into to get my weekend soundtrack set up the right way.

On a more somber note, we here at Nine Circles were very saddened to hear about the passing of Unique Leader Records founder and Deeds of Flesh guitarist Erik Lindmark.  Unique Leader are a force to be reckoned with in the world of death metal, giving a home to many of the most lauded and recognizable names in the worlds of technical and brutal death metal, and Erik’s work with Deeds of Flesh helped champion the sound that these bands would continue to shape to this day.  We have included several choice cuts from both Deeds of Flesh and other bands on the Unique Leader roster as a way to celebrate the memory of this giant of the scene.  If you are able to lend support to the family, a GoFundMe has been set up (right here) to benefit Erik’s wife and 5 year old daughter. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans around the globe.  Rest in Peace.
