CANTO: Mayhem, Devin Townsend, Metallica, and More

dsc_0436

I leave for Detroit in two days. CAN’T WAIT.

  • Some crazy drama out of Mayhem in recent days. The bottomline of the matter is, Necrobutcher did not much care for Euronymous. However, I do not much care for Mayhem, so… moving on I guess?
  • …moving onto the latest Metallica merch? What is my existence today? Ugh. ANYWAY. If the only way you’ll achieve satisfaction in life is by being completely covered in Metallica apparel 24/7/365, you’ll be thrilled that they dropped some new watches, bathing suits, and… a wetsuit. Apparently.
  • Finally something I am actually excited about. Devin Townsend has announced some 2020 dates with The Contortionist and Haken. Those fall in February and March of next year and you better believe I will find myself at that Boston date.
  • Check out this video from Italian heavy metallers Tytus for “Rain After Drought: Part 2”. It was inspired by the fights of the North Dakota Sioux tribes at Standing Rock Reservation in 2016 .

CANTO: Cradle of Filth, The Crown, Astronoid, and Dead

I bought a lot of sharp objects today. That is all.

  • Cradle of Filth announced the second leg of their “Cryptoriana” tour. Well, specifically called “Cryptoriana – The Second Coming Of Vice World Tour 2019”. So jump on that if it rolls through your town. Tickets go on sale Friday.
  • The Crown are releasing reissues of Crowned In Terror, Crowned Unholy, and Possessed 13. They’ll be out January 11th for those interested.
  • Oh, this is probably worth mentioning. Interested in owning a piece of black metal history? Well, a fragment of Dead’s skull can be yours for a slim $3,500.00. Yes, you can literally own a piece of the deceased Mayhem vocalist (accompanied by a letter from Euronymous dated in 1991, five days after Dead’s suicide). Crazy and WEIRD.
  • Big news from Astronoid today. Their second, self-titled, full length album will be out February 1st through Blood Music. You can catch them on tour early next year with Between The Buried and Me and Tesseract. For now, however, you can check out a new song called “I Dream In Lines.”

CANTO: Euronymous Letters, Red Fang Wine, Septicflesh Videos, and More

1/3/2018. I guess it’s going to snow here tonight.

  • One of the bigger things to surface recently (to some people that aren’t me) was the Coachella lineup. A whole lotta stuff unrelated to what we cover, but I guess A Perfect Circle is on there. So that’s something.
  •  This was a weird thing to pop up today. If you want a piece of black metal/Mayhem history, you can purchase some of Euronymous’ original letters. They start at $250 and it looks like there are only a few left.
  • More alcohol branding. Red Fang are teaming up with Teutonic Wine Company to bring us the, appropriately titled, Red Fang Red. It’s a bit of unique blend, so I’m curious as to how well it’s received. Since I used to pretend to know things about wine once and stuff.
  • Septicflesh have dropped a new video for “Martyr”. They’ll be touring around these parts in the coming months. I’ll be there. I think.
