CANTO: If These Trees Could Talk, IIVII, Born of Osiris, and More

What is there to dig up today? Side note, I’m ready for a beer.

  • IIVII, the ambient drone project led by Josh Graham, is releasing the Obsidian EP on vinyl for the first time through Consouling Sounds for Record Store Day 2021 (June 12th). In conjunction, Consouling Sounds will also be hosting a free pre-recorded streaming event here.
  • If These Trees Could Talk, one of my favorites, re-issued Above the Earth, Below the Sky, Red Forest, and The Bones of a Dying World on vinyl through Metal Blade. They’ll be out officially on July 9th, but you can get your pre-order on at this location. Some fun variants in there… who knows what I’ll end up with.
  • Desaster are releasing Churches Without Saints on June 4th through Metal Blade Records, and premiered the new single and lyric video “Endless Awakening” today. Worth noting, I had absolutely no idea they’ve been doing their thing since 1989. That’s crazy.
  • Born of Osiris have announced a new album, Angel or Alien, which is set for a July 2nd release through Sumerian Records. Check out the new video for the title-track below, and pre-save/order/whatever the album here.

With all that said, the debut work from IIVII, Colony, is an exploration of the far reaches of our musical awareness, all while keeping things as simple as possible.
