Aah, spring is here. Maybe. Hard to tell with the off and on snow we’re having, but at least that looks like it’s (almost) behind us now. The changing of the seasons always brings about a change in my musical and drink tastes, and what better way to express both of those than another hostile takeover of this column? Receiving the Evcharist is our weekly feature where we pair choice albums with our favorite libations. Drink from the cup of heresy. This week’s offering: Incite’s Wake Up Dead and Temperance Brewing Company’s Birdsong.

CANTO: Cavernlight, Misery Index, Incite, and More
As of today, long run season is officially upon us again.
- We’ll lead off with Cavernlight, and their powerful new track. “The Ashes of Everything I’ve Failed to Be” is streaming over at Brooklyn Vegan. That, of course, it taken from their sophomore full-length, As I Cast Ruin Upon the Lens That Reveals My Every Flaw, which drops on May 13th through Translation Loss.
- Incite revealed a new visualizer for “War Soup”, which features Max Cavalera. Give it a watch here. Wake Up Dead drops on April 8th through Atomic Fire.
- Alexisonfire have an absolutely massive run of shows upcoming in 2022. Spreading from May until October, they cover most of United States, with appearances at a number of major festivals as well. Get all the dates and ticket information here.
- Apparently there are quite a few videos to catch up on today, and the next one comes from Kingdom Collapse. Here’s the clip for “Save Me From Myself”, the new single that’s available everywhere now.
- And Monday will end with some new Misery Index. I guess technically Friday ended with new Misery Index… but I wasn’t around to share it, so obviously that didn’t count. Anyway, here’s “The Eaters and the Eaten”. That’s the latest from Complete Control, which drops on May 13th through Century Media.

CANTO: Moon Tooth, Abbath, Incite, and More
I guess we’re on the every other day plan this week. Oh well.
- It does bring me some happiness to lead off with tour announcements, so we’ll do that today starting with Rivers of Nihil. They have May and June dates coming up with Fallujah, Alluvial, and Warforged. See all the dates and get your tickets here.
- It’s safe to assume every new Abbath track is going to make its way in here. So today we’re happy to present “Dread Reaver”, the title-track from the upcoming new album. As a reminder, that’s out on March 25th through Season of Mist.
- Incite are also releasing a new album on March 25th through Atomic Fire Records titled Wake Up Dead, and you can view the new video for “Deadbeat” right now.
- Switching gears a bit, Cremation Lily have announced details surrounding their debut through The Flenser. Dreams Drenched In Static is slated for an April 15th release and the first single, “Selfless”, can be heard here.
- Nine Circles favorite Moon Tooth have set May 13th as the release date for Phototroph, which will be out through Pure Noise Records. Check out the clip for “Carry Me Home” below. Also worth mentioning that they have some live dates in April and May, which you should all take advantage of.

CANTO: Midnight, Caliban, Ghost, and More
I’m finally starting to sense a brief spell of organization on the horizon.
- Midnight have set March 4th as the release date of their fifth full-length album. Let Their Be Witchery will be out through Metal Blade Records, and you can preview what’s to come with the new single, “Szex Witchery”, right now.
- New Ghost emerged overnight, so we should probably include that in the pile today. The new album, Impera, will be out on March 11th and can be pre-ordered here. Check out “Call Me Little Sunshine” right now, and tell me what you think.
- Arizona groove metal collective Incite are releasing Wake Up Dead on March 25th through Atomic Fire Records, having just inked a fresh deal with the label. Pre-order details, along with new tunes, should be coming in the next couple of weeks.
- Caliban have unveiled new album details. Dystopia is set to drop on April 22nd (I think) through Century Media. The video for “Ascent Of The Blessed” can be viewed below.

CANTO: Soulfly, Necronomicon, Adema, and More
Friday’s Friday. All kinds of weird stuff today.
- Soulfly have announced the Blood on the Street 2019 U.S. Tour. They’ll be joined by Unearth, Incite, Prison, and Arrival of Autumn. The tour begins on September 3rd and runs through the 29th.
- Necronomicon have revealed details behind their next album. Unus will be out on October 18th via Season of Mist. There is a new trailer for the album, which you can check out here.
- Adema, a name I definitely have not heard in forever, is apparently still active. They have a new vocalist in Ryan Shuck and they will be touring the U.S. with Powerman 5000 and a bunch of other bands I don’t care about.
- Finally, let’s check out some new stuff from Beastwars. This is called “Storms of Mars” and will feature on their upcoming new album, IV, out next week on Destroy Records.
