The riff, the foundation from which all heavy rock music is built. It is the molten material used to forge inspiration for future generations of rock guitarists. There’s a reason Eddie Van Halen’s most famous piece is called “Eruption.” Whether it’s a sludgy doom riff or a buzzsaw grind riff, heavy music is nothing without the riff. Tales of Demonic Possession, the latest album by Clouds Taste Satanic, is an ode to the riff.

Album Review: Devil’s Witches — “In All Her Forms”

Here just in time for Samhain, the undefinable Devil’s Witches are back offering their newest creation In All Her Forms to the masses.  Though this is only the band’s second full-length, they’ve been keeping fans happy and up to date by releasing EPs and singles over the past few years.  This mysterious band has a unique blend of sounds and delves into various styles creating fresh and never boring music.  In All Her Forms consists of doom, heavy metal, psych metal, classic rock, folk rock, and 70’s lounge music—just to name a few detected influences.  The album focuses on themes of the Maiden, Mistress, Mother, and Matriarch, making the music utterly magical and powerful.

Album Review: Devil’s Witches — “Guns, Drugs and Filthy Pictures”

If you are looking for a truly unique metal-infused musical experience, look no further.  Devil’s Witches‘ discography is something to dive into to escape the “norm” and to even escape reality.  The band has a small but powerful discography, with Guns, Drugs and Filthy Pictures now added to the mix.  The music created by Devil’s Witches is a blend of doom metal, heavy metal, 70’s psychedelic rock, classic rock, with a few other musical elements and genres sprinkled in.  This once solo project, led by a mysterious multi-instrumentalist appropriately called Witchdoctor General, has since welcomed some returning players who all participated in the creation of this two-track EP.
