Donuts & CANTO: The 69 Eyes, Unearth, Omnium Gatherum, and More

That’s right. It’s Saturday morning. Time to mix things up and have some donuts with your canto. Or a breakfast beer. Dealer’s choice. Anyway, what did we miss last night while I was at the bar?

Unearth emerged today with a new single, titled “Mother Betrayal”. Pre-orders started yesterday (almost typed ‘today’) for The Wretched; The Ruinous, which is out on May 5 through Century Media.
Omnium Gatherum are releasing their new EP, Slasher, on June 2 also through Century Media. For a preview of that collection, give the video for the title-track a watch here.
With Exul arriving on March 24 through Season of Mist, Ne Obliviscaris released a new live video for “And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope”. That clip features performance footage from Melbourne in 2019.
Wisconsin death metal group Micawber shared a new single titled The Cremation of Care, out through Prosthetic Records. That marks their first new material since 2018’s Beyond the Reach of Flame, so we’ll see what else 2023 has in store for them.
New Lordi feels like the right thing on a weekend morning. Their new digital single, “Thing In The Cage”, can be heard here. Screem Writers Guild is out later this month through Atomic Fire. And I can’t decide if spelling ‘scream’ as ‘screem’ annoys me. I mean, I know why they went with that… but was there actually any concern the pun would overlooked if they spelled it right? This is the shit I think about post-bar. ANYWAY.
The 69 Eyes dropped a video for the title-track of their upcoming new album, Death Of Darkness, which you can see below. The release date for that one is April 21 through Atomic Fire Records.

Whoa. A full sweep this week. I think?

Mark Morton has revealed the first single from his upcoming solo EP. It’s called “All I Had to Lose”, and man, it has feels. A reminder that Ether drops on January 17th via Rise Records.
Some stuff from Carnifex today. First, they said farewell to guitarist Jordan Lockrey. From there, I’ll take this moment to remind everyone about their upcoming Meta X North American Tour with 3Teeth, The Browning, and Skold.
One more tour to announce this week. Micawber are touring the U.S. in April and May. There are 17 headlining dates as part of The Intoxication of Western Civilization Tour. Yay.
Remember way back on Monday when I said My Dying Bride were dropping a new video for “Your Broken Shore”? Well, here it is. The Ghost Of Orion is out on March 6th through Nuclear Blast.

CANTO: Magic Circle, Ozzy, Bodom Beer, and More

I’ve been listening to these In Flames tracks way more than I probably should.

Psycroptic has announced the As The Kingdom Drowns tour with Cannabis Corpse, Gorod, and Micawber. U.S. dates running through April and May.
In another episode of “Metal Bands Making Beer”, Children Of Bodom have revealed that they are partnering with Fat Lizard Brewing Co. to create the Lake Bodom Pre-Prohibition Lager. This is lager that will be brewed with, you guessed it, water from Lake Bodom.
Remember when I said Ozzy postponed some of those European dates? Well, now the whole tour is being rescheduled. That escalated quickly. We obviously hope he gets well soon.
Magic Circle isn’t a name I’ve brought up recently, so I’m more than happy to close with that. Their third LP, Departed Souls, will be out in March via 20 Buck Spin. Let’s check out the new title track.
