I went to the gym today. That was, clearly, a mistake.

Ice Nine Kills, a thing I normally don’t pay much attention to, deserve some props here. To help raise funds for wildfire relief in Australia, they’ve released a new, special edition shirt. 100% of profits will be donated. That’s a good number.
For those considering (or already looking forward to) the upcoming Fleshgod Apocalypse North American tour featuring a full string string quartet, here’s a special message from the band.
Mondo Generator are streaming a new track called “Turboner” (nice) over at Sound Sphere. Their next album, which will be titled Fuck It, drops on February 21st via Heavy Psych Sounds.
Here’s a new video from Swiss metalcore group Divergency. This one is for a track called “Slay Your Fear”, which was taken from the recently released album Cassandre.

Halloween Canto! Which means literally nothing.

I suppose Carach Angren is kinda spooky. I learned today that they have entered the studio to begin the recording process for their sixth album. It will be out sometime next year on Season of Mist.
Maryland Doom Fest has announced their 2020 lineup. Highlights include Cirith Ungol, Blood Ceremony, and Mondo Generator. That festival is held June 18th through 21st in Frederick.
Epica is releasing a book, titled The Essence Of Epica, on December 9th. Sounds like it will hold some unique stories and some awesome candid photos. If you’re an Epica fan, I’m sure this is a must.
Here’s a new video from Death Tribe that I haven’t watched yet but am sharing anyway. It’s for a song called “Psychopathetic”, taken from the album Beyond Pain and Pleasure: A Desert Experiment.

Anyone complaining that there hasn’t been a great week for metal thus far in 2016 needs to go immediately and start over, but there won’t be any complaining after this week. Mostly due to Neurosis‘ highly anticipated eleventh full length Fires Within Fires finally seeing the light of day. But that’s not all; Fatalist are back with their insanely good Swedeath saturated The Bitter End, Predatory Light further their black metal chaos on Predatory Light, Trap Them punch you in the mouth with their fifth album Crown Feral while Witchskull breaks out the bluesy doom on The Vast Electric Dark. Switching gears a bit, Dysrhythmia bends time on their progressive instru-metal album The Veil Of Control — let the dissecting begin. And last but not least, Insomnium‘s epic fifth full length Winter’s Gate is a blast. As stated, its another stacked week here on Initial Descent and literally, there’s something for everyone.
