Donuts & CANTO: Mélancolia, Dawn of Ouroboros, Messa, and More

Once again, beer got in the way of clearing the inbox on a Friday night. So Saturday morning it is!

  • Let’s start off with some blackened deathcore. Mélancolia announced their debut album, HissThroughRottenTeeth, which is scheduled for an April 21 release through Greyscale Records and Nuclear Blast Records. Give “[Inure]” a listen here.
  • Next, we’ll jump over to Killing Joke. They released a brand new single, “Full Spectrum Dominance”, which comes in celebration of their sold out headlining show at Royal Albert Hall on March 12. That’s available through Spinefarm, and can be heard here.
  • Italian doom metal collective Messa are releasing their 2022 Roadburn performance, Messa – Live at Roadburn, on April 28 through Svart Records. Pre-order that on your preferred format here.
  • Holy shit, it’s Winger! To celebrate 35 years, they’re releasing Seven on May 5. Their first new release since 2014 can be pre-ordered here, and be sure to check out “Proud Desperado” while you’re at it.
  • We’ll wrap up with the latest from Dawn of Ouroboros, “Velvet Moon”, the video of which can be found below. That’s taken from Velvet Incandescence, out on April 21 through Prosthetic Records.

CANTO: Unleash The Archers, Misery Index, Xandria, and More

Wolves In the Throne Room

Let’s see how quickly I can find four or five items to share from our inbox…

  • We’ll start with Unleash The Archers, who revealed “Acoustipex”, a reimagined version of the Apex title-track. A playthrough video is available here. The 5th anniversary edition of that album drops on November 18 through Napalm Records.
  • Symphonic metallers Xandria are releasing a new album, The Wonders Still Waiting, on February 3. That will also be out through Napalm Records, and a new single titled “Ghosts” can be seen and heard here.
  • Roadburn 2023 announced the first wave of artists, and it is expectedly impressive. Deafheaven, David Eugene Edwards, and Wolves In The Throne Room are among the names. I’m going to get to this some year, I promise.
  • Closing out, we have a new video from Misery Index. Give the clip for “Rites of Cruelty” a watch below. That track is taken from Complete Control, which dropped earlier this year through Century Media.

CANTO: Greet Death, Astral Tomb, Cerebral Rot, and More

Things are ramping up in so many ways. At least I get to go shooting tonight (with a camera… to clarify).

  • Cerebral Rot and Gravesend have announced a brief run of shows in March near and around my area of the country. The dates run from the 24th through the 27th, with Outer Heaven and Left Cross also along for the ride.
  • Another handful of bands have been added to the 2022 Roadburn lineup, including the likes of The Devil’s Trade, Terzij de Horde, and Deathsomnia. I’m going to attend this one of these years… it just won’t be this year.
  • The debut from Astral Tomb, titled Soulgazer, is set for a March 25th release through Blood Harvest Records. Check out the new track, “Traversing the Wandering Star”, right now. Pre-order it while you’re there as well, obviously.
  • We’ll end Tuesday with the new single and video from Greet Death for “Punishment Existence”. Worth noting, they also have a run of shows coming up in March and April which you should definitely check out.

CANTO: Roadburn Redux, Gojira, Hideous Divinity, and More

The NHL trade deadline is always a weird day.

  • Ok, let’s start with Roadburn Redux news. There were a few more lineup announcements, but the biggest thing shared today is the full festival schedule. Thursday/Friday are just around the corner, and there’s a certain set that I plan ending my work week with. What does everyone else have circled so far?
  • Oh look, another new Gojira track. Check out the lyric video for “Into The Storm“, the latest taken from Fortitude. I haven’t listened to this one yet, but I will say that April 30th release date suddenly feels somewhat close, and I am quite excited.
  • Hideous Divinity have released the second single from their new EP, LV-426. That effort is set for an April 23rd release through Century Media Records, and can be pre-ordered here. As for that new single, it’s titled “Chestburst”, and you can check out the video at this location.
  • And we’ll close with the new track from Myronath titled “Evigt Mörker”. That one is taken from their upcoming new album, Djevelkraft, which will be out through Hellstain Productions sometime in the near future. Not sure exactly when, I didn’t look very hard.
