Silver Lake by Esa Holopainen was recently released through Nuclear Blast. I haven’t checked it out in full yet, but I am intrigued by the new video for “Sentiment”, a track which features Jonas Renkse on vocals. And we all know how much I love projects that involve the Katatonia vocalist…
So we’ll pause all the video announcements to include a note about Hellfest 2022, which is probably the most immense festival I could fathom. The festival will span a full week, from June 17th through the 26th, with over 350 bands performing across 6 stages. Headliners include… Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More… honestly the list goes on and on. And those are just the headliners. Get the full scoop here.
Remember that epic tour scheduled for last year that featured the likes of Megadeth, In Flames, Lamb of God, and Trivium? Well, those dates have been rescheduled to this August and September. This tour would be a monstrous way to welcome concerts back in 2021, so fingers crossed it all works out. Tickets go on sale Friday.
Lastly, and definitely most importantly (to me), is the news from Amenra. Their next full-length, De Doorn, is set for a June 25th release through Relapse Records. Pre-order it here, but just a heads up that a lot of the good stuff is sold out already (I helped that cause). This also came with a new track and video, “De Evenmens”. Needless to say, it is incredible on every front. Enjoy.
System of a Down have announced a live stream fundraising event to benefit Artsakh and Armenian soldiers injured in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict last fall. That event takes place on January 30th and will be followed by the premiere of the music video for “Genocidal Humanoidz”.
Detroit grind collective Shock Narcotic, which features current and former members of the likes of The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Black Dahlia Murder, Battlecross, and more, are readying themselves for a live stream performance on January 29th with Scour. Tickets are on sale now at this location.
Silver Lake, the solo project of Esa Holopainen (Amorphis), has just signed on with Nuclear Blast. It sounds like he dedicated much of 2020 to recording his first solo album, and I look forward hearing how it all came together. No apparent release date yet.
Post/doom metal project Crawl Below released a new video today for “Monument”. That’s a track taken from the upcoming new album, 9 Mile Square, which drops on February 12th. Pre-order it here, and check the clip below.
