CANTO: Distant, Stoned Jesus, Vananidr, and More

This is a rushed post because I have things to do tonight, so my apologies for any clumsiness in advance.

  • We’ll start with the latest addition to the Century Media roster. Distant have announced their new deal with the label, and are marking the occasion with a new track titled “Exofilth”. Give it a listen here, and let’s keep an eye out for future album news.
  • Fucked Up are releasing a new EP on October 7th through Trankcrimes, titled Oberon. The four track collection can be pre-ordered here, but “Strix” has been available for a couple weeks now. So, you know, have at it and stuff.
  • Need some black metal in your Monday? Check out the latest from Vananidr. Beneath The Mold drops on October 28th through Black Lion Records, and a new track titled “Awake” can be streamed early here.
  • Ukrainian sludge rock trio Stoned Jesus shared a new track, titled “CON”, and that’s how we’re going to end the day. That sample is taken from Fatherlight, which will be released at some point next year… through Season of Mist, I anticipate.

CANTO: Northless, Inexorum, Horizon Ignited, and More

Decent chance this is my last post this week, thanks to some wedding travel. The good news is that there are plenty of notable updates today.

  • To start, the progressive sludge crew known as Northless have signed on with Translation Loss Records, and have announced their new album. A Path Beyond Grief will be released on July 22nd, and you can check out the title track over at Brooklyn Vegan now.
  • From there, we’ll jump over to Season of Mist to check out the new track from Stoned Jesus. This one is titled “Porcelain”, the title track from the sludge rock trio’s new album, with a release date still pending.
  • And then over at Prosthetic, Yatra shared a new single and visualizer for “Reign of Terror”. Check it out over at Distorted Sound. That’s the third single taken from Born into Chaos, which is set for a June 10th release.
  • Collectively, we think pretty highly of Inexorum, so we should probably include that as well. “Memoriae Sacrum” can be streamed over at Metal Injection. As a reminder, Equinox Vigil is out on June 17th through Gilead Media.
  • Finally, we’ll close with Horizon Ignited. Below is the new video for “Beyond Your Reach”, the latest single taken from Towards The Dying Lands. That album drops on July 1st through Nuclear Blast.

CANTO: Crowbar, Street Sects, Stoned Jesus, and More

CROWBAR

The month of April is going to be absolutely insane.

  • Following up on the release of Zero And Below, Kirk Windstein breaks down the latest Crowbar effort in this video. It’s a great album, and if you still need a copy of it, here ya go.
  • Street Sects are back with the final installment of their Gentrification single series. Gentrification V: Whitewashed will be out through The Flenser on May 20th. Check out “History is Everyone’s Fuck” here. They’ll also be on tour this coming August and September, which is cool.
  • New York City deathgrinders Skullshitter are releasing a new full-length on May 6th through Nerve Altar, titled Goat Claw. The opening track, “Angel of Decay”, is available for streaming here.
  • Sharing this news about Stoned Jesus because that might be my favorite band name ever. Anyway, they just signed on with Season of Mist, where they’ll release their fifth full-length eventually.
  • And we’ll close with something a little different. Below is the latest video from Chastity for “Happy Face”. That’s a track taken from Suffer Summer, which is out through Deathwish Inc. and Dine Alone Records.
