CANTO: Mercyful Fate, Machine Head, Wolves in the Throne Room, and More

Wolves In the Throne Room

And now the countdown to Berlin is really on.

  • How do we not start with the Mercyful Fate tour? Their first North American headlining tour in over two decades kicks off on October 25th, running through November 16th. Support will be in the form of Kreator and Midnight. General tickets go sale this coming Friday, so don’t screw this up (he says mostly to himself).
  • The second notable tour to emerge today comes from Machine Head. Those dates cover most of November and December, and those tickets also go on sale Friday. There are some pretty cool VIP ticket options, if that’s your thing.
  • Switching to something a little more symphonic, we have the latest from Hexed. The Swedish metallers unveiled a new video for “Stigma Diaboli”, a fresh track taken from Pagans Rising. That album drops on September 30th through ViciSolum Productions.
  • Footage from the Wolves in the Throne Room set at Fire In The Mountains 2022 emerged, and it is incredible. Behold “I Will Lay Down My Bones Among the Rock and Roots” in all its glory immediately below.

CANTO: Lamb of God, Boris, Hexed, and More

A few days of calm, before I’m back on the road this coming Thursday.

  • By far the biggest news of the day emerged from the Lamb of God camp. First off, their next album, Omens, is set to arrive on October 7th through Epic Records. Keep an eye out for “Nevermore” this coming Friday. And then from there, they also announced a massive headlining tour in September and October with the likes of Killswitch Engage, Baroness, Fit For An Autopsy and more (depending on the date).
  • Not really sure where to go from there to be honest. Oh, new stuff from Boris! “Question 1” has been unveiled, a track that will appear on Heavy Rocks. That album is set for an August 12th release through Relapse.
  • From there, we also have new material from Hexed. The first single from Pagans Rising, titled “Repentance”, is available for your listening pleasure now. That album is set for a release later this year through ViciSolum Productions. That date is still TBD as far as I am aware.
  • And we’ll close out our Monday with some doom. This is Monasterium, with their new track titled “Cimmeria”. Cold Are The Graves is out this coming Friday through Nine Records.

Scarab

Yep. Way late with this but life, folks. So, we’ll make it a ‘stuff that comes out today or already out’ kinda thing and we’ll hit the highlights to make it quick. Good chance if you happen to be out of the loop so here we go… Scarab hits all the right marks for astonishingly good Egyptian death metal. I mean, if Nile actually were from Egypt, I imagine this is what they’d sound like but all comparisons aside, Scarab stand firmly and violently on their own – go get this NOW. My Dying Bride make a return and it’s a splendidly beautiful, doomy return, Swedeath demons Wombbath are back in the Swesaddle and it hurts so good at high volume, and Pure Wrath offer up another beautiful album in the form of atmospherically epic black metal. Go find all the stuff you missed out on. See you back here in a few days. Continue reading
