CANTO: Cloak, Yatra, Misanthur, and More

Tour announcements all over the place today!

  • Starting with Cloak who are touring the U.S. with Demiser this coming October and November. I know one Nine Circler that’s going to be PSYCHED about this one. Well, two. Throw me in that bucket. Tickets can be acquired here. Both of these bands rule, so go do that.
  • And then we have Heavy Temple, another band I enjoy immensely. This is a shorter run of shows, but they have some U.S. dates in August and early September. They’ll be supporting their new album, Lupi Amoris, which dropped back in June through Magnetic Eye Records.
  • Yatra have signed on with Prosthetic Records, and are currently in the studio working on their label debut and follow-up to 2020’s All Is Lost. They also have a run of dates lined up in August and September, a few of which are with High Reeper… which kicks ass.
  • Combichrist has announced the second leg of their fall tour dates, with King 810, Davey Suicide, and Modern Mimes. Those dates kick off October 18th in Seattle, and runs through November 6th in Akron. The first leg of that tour starts September 19th, so lots of Combichrist this coming fall.
  • Polish black metal crew Misanthur have set October 15th as the release date of Ephemeris. Their debut will be out through Season of Mist Underground Activists, and you can check out the first single taken from that album below, titled “Black Clouds & No Silver Linings”.

Album Review: YATRA — “All is Lost”

After successful tours in the US and Europe, as well as festival appearances with additional national and international shows scheduled, everything came to a sudden stop for doom/heavy metal sensation YATRA with the global pandemic.  That is when Dana Helmuth, founding member of the band, sat down and began writing All is Lost, their third and latest release.  While the general lyrical theme of the album is rather dark and heavy, artistically reflecting the band’s dismay with the current ways of the world, the album is very lively and energetic with intriguing vocal and musical variety.

CANTO: Buildings, Behemoth, Yatra, and More

Behemoth 2018

New week, new me. Ok, that isn’t even remotely true. Metal news!

  • Buildings have announced some east coast tour dates with Bummer. Those dates run in February and March. There isn’t a date all that close to me unfortunately, but this is going to be a super fun tour for those that have the chance to check it out.
  • Yatra are lining up the release of their second album on January 31st. It will be called Blood of the Night and will be released through STB Records. You can stream a new track, titled “Blood Will Flow”, right now.
  • For those previously unaware, Volbeat and Clutch have some upcoming U.S. arena dates in April and May, and The Picturebooks will be in support. This should be a good time.
  • New music videos from Behemoth are always worth sharing. This one is for “Rom 5:8”. I haven’t watched it yet, but knowing the effort the Polish legends put into their video productions, I’m sure it’s as gloriously theatrical as always.
