CANTO: Der Weg einer Freiheit, Blackbriar, …And Oceans, and More

Last roundup this week! Enjoy, or don’t. I don’t care.

  • Bookending with Season of Mist today. A new song emerged from …And Oceans titled “Likt Törnen Genom Kött”, taken from As in Gardens, so in Tombs. That new album will be out on January 27.
  • Blackbriar have signed on with Nuclear Blast Records, as they work towards the release of their sophomore full-length effort. Today they unveiled a new track titled “Crimson Faces”, which you can check out here.
  • Dutch pagan and folk metal veterans Heidevolk are releasing Wedekeer on February 24 through Napalm Records. Today they unveiled “Klauwen Vooruit”, the video for which you can check out here.
  • Hour of Penance are re-releasing Misotheism on January 27 through Agonia Records. Originally released back in 2019, it will now be made available on CD, LP, and tape for the first time.
  • Let’s transition into the weekend with a new live video from Der Weg einer Freiheit for “Eiswanderer”. That footage was recorded during their last headlining tour with Regarde Les Hommes Tomber and Bizarrekult, this past September. And, of course, that track is taken from Stellar, my favorite Der Weg einer Freiheit album.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 256 (11.5.2022)

It haunts me. Teases me with brief glimpses and subtle hints of the delight to come. My every waking minute tears my attention in two directions: what is the present will become the past. But for how long? The clock only moves one hour, but what time will this all too-solid flesh remember?

(Yeah…I really am looking forward getting that extra hour of sleep)

Anyway, let’s get going with the 256th edition of the Nine Circles Playlist. I’m not going to burden you with more Darkthrone even though all I’ve been playing is Astral Fortress since it arrived on vinyl here at the compound. Instead we’re going to kick off with some new older school metal, starting with a 1-2 kick to the balls courtesy of Skull Fist and Riot City. Elsewhere we’re rocking with the tangy taste of Dead and Dreaming, …And Oceans, Devil’s Witches, Type O Negative, Mord ‘A’ Stigmata, a massive dose of death courtesy of a 3-way split between Lipoma, Trocar, and Fluids, some Trash Panda, Eyes of Eden, Lacuna Coil, and a host of music at the close to get to know our new writer Dan M. who just joined the 9C ranks.

Get listening. Stay safe. See you next week.

CANTO: Every Time I Die, Lesser Glow, …and Oceans, and More

lesserglow

Quiet day everywhere except in my mind.

  • It seems as though Every Time I Die has teased about half a minute of new music. If anyone has managed to form an opinion off of those brief seconds, the floor is all yours!
  • Not the most surprising thing, but Rocklahoma 2020 has been canceled. The event, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, made the announcement yesterday. Five Finger Death Punch, Slipknot, and Staind were the planned headliners.
  • Lesser Glow have a new album dropping on May 29th through Pelagic Records called Nullity. A track titled “The Great Imitator” is streaming now, and a pre-order link is available for you to take advantage of.
  • We’ll close with a new music video from …and Oceans for the track “Five of Swords”. Their next album, Cosmic World Mother, drops on May 8th through Season of Mist.
