When it comes to a Deafheaven show, there a few things you can be absolutely sure of. For one, they are going to bring a dope — if not curious — collection of artists on the road with them. Secondly, their performance will exhaust all your energy, regardless of your positioning in the crowd. And finally, the passion and quality of their performance will never, ever, leave you disappointed. Such was the case at the Boston date of this most recent tour with Drab Majesty and Uniform. Here we are, again, with Initial Descent and why so soon you ask? Well, Initial means “existing or occurring at the beginning” and since we don’t have too many Sunday posts today is the beginning. Hence, “Initial Descent” and Saturday just ain’t it anymore. Feel strongly one way or the other? PLEASE, leave it in the comments and tell us how you feel and what you like or dislike.
Moving along, this week we have NY’s extreme avant-garde black / death metallers Imperial Triumphant triumphantly return (yep, I did that) with their third full length Vile Luxury, Churchburn are back with their doom laden second full length None Shall Live…The Hymns of Misery, Seattle’s duo Pound offer up their debut Pound which will make heads spin from the dazzling display of technical virtuosity and Deafheaven come gazing back to explode the internet on Ordinary Corrupt Human Love. 1..2..3.. has it started yet?
