CANTO: Lamb of God, Imperial Triumphant, Abysmal Dawn, and More

LambofGod2020

“A legacy of collapse built on a painful truth.”

  • Lamb of God have released the fourth single, “Routes”, from their upcoming self-titled album, which drops on June 19th through Epic Records. That track features Testament’s Chuck Billy and it is an absolutely ripper.
  • Abysmal Dawn have announced a Gimme Radio special, scheduled for June 5th (next Friday) at 3:00 PM EST. They’ve curated a playlist for the occasion, and will be available for a live Q&A. I love these things.
  • Attila also dropped a new track today, called “Canceled”, if you’re into that kinda thing. I have nothing more to add here. At least I know what Attila sounds like now? Moving on.
  • Imperial Triumphant have released the first track and video from Alphaville. The album doesn’t drop until July 31st through Century Media, but we can check out “Rotted Futures” immediately below.

I’ll be honest, this is probably going to be the last one of these for the week. So let’s make it count! Or not.

CANTO: Killer tour announcements and a great first week for Lamb of God!

Before we kick off, it sounds like there’s some troubling news in the Insomnium camp. Let’s hope for the best there. Aside from that, here’s what we’ve got:

This special World of Playboy clip (because of course they’re doing something for Playboy) follows last year’s original version of the video. Those guys are just so much fun.

CANTO: Hatebeak return, a new Rob Scallon cover, and sad news from Lazarus AD

Bleh. That’s all I have to say about this particular Monday. Actually, lies…I’ll add: “48 hours ’til I leave for Baltimore.” Anyway, we’re coming at you guys a bit late with our news recap tonight, so let’s not waste any more time–here’s what we missed in the metal world today:

  • Horrible news from the Lazarus A.D. camp, as drummer Ryan Shutler passed away suddenly at age 28. Our condolences to his family and bandmates at this sad time.
  • So The Darkness have a new song out. In 2015. I…I can’t; that’s all I have on this.
  • ALL HAIL HATEBEAK! The parrot-fronted grindcore band have announced their new album, The Number of the Beak, will be out June 26th on Reptilian Records.
  • Attila frontman Chris Fronzak has a new cologne called Rage available for purchase. The likelihood of me buying this is about the same as that of me ever listening to Attila. Which would be “zero.”
  • And finally, we close with another cover video from mad genius Rob Scallon. This time, he’s doing Metallica’s “Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth).” On an upright bass:

Dude’s a master. But you already knew that. Anyway, that’ll do it for us tonight. Check back tomorrow for the usual!

Keep it heavy,
Dan

Quickies: Blind Guardian gets a bassist, Geezer Butler gets an arrest record, and more!

Corey’s in Boston doing day job things, so you’ve got me today, kids. And guess what? It’s Quickies time. Let’s see what we missed in the metal world today:

Cheers to the guys at Metal Injection for bringing that to our attention. Although, if I’m being honest, I kinda wish they hadn’t done. Oh well. I’m off to play dodgeball. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Keep it heavy,

-Dan
