CANTO: Rammstein, Watain, Battle Beast, and More

Watain 2022

Content is weirdly light for a Friday, which is the only reason I’m dropping this in.

  • I’ve heard some folks chatting about Battle Beast somewhat recently, so we can start there. Their new single, “Tempest of Blades”, is streaming now. Circus of Doom was a release from earlier this year, but today they unveiled a bonus version… hence the new single.
  • One of the more notable release today was The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain, which is out through Nuclear Blast. So, on that note, we should all check out the new live video for “Ecstasies in Night Infinite”. Watain is awesome.
  • Interested in a little slamming brutal death metal in your Friday? If so, here’s some new stuff from Extermination Dismemberment, titled “Agony Incarnate”. That new single is available through Unique Leader.
  • Hey, here’s something I want to attend. Post. Festival 2022 will feature the likes of Pelican, Boris, Junius, and a lot of other things I like. The event takes place the weekend of September 9th in Indianapolis. Tickets can be acquired here.
  • There’s a new Rammstein album out today that I need to listen to. Do I think Zeit will live up to their last effort? I can’t imagine it would because that album was incredible. Regardless, we’ll wrap up the week with the gnarly video for “Angst”.

Have I mentioned it was a weird week? Because it was a weird week.

CANTO: Battle Beast, Dragonforce, Nite, and More

Today seemed a bit quiet for a Monday, but I’m sure I’ll find something.

  • I suppose we can start with a tour. Battle Beast is joining Dragonforce for a North American tour this coming March and April. It all kicks off March 20th in Denver and wraps up on April 23rd in Berkeley. The Dragonforce tour actually starts March 7th, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch those guys if you’re interested.
  • Can’t remember the last time I mentioned Skid Row, so let’s go down that road next. They’re releasing a new box set, SKID ROW: The Atlantic Years 1989-1996, on December 3rd. You can pre-order any of the formats here.
  • If you happen to be on the West Coast, you should probably try to attend one of these two Nite performances. The first date is November 26th in San Francisco supporting Cradle of Filth, and the second falls on December 1st across the bay in Oakland with Unto Others.
  • I don’t feel like scrolling through the inbox anymore, so we’ll close with some more Dragonforce. Here is the new video for “Strangers”, which is taken from 2019’s Extreme Power Metal.

CANTO: Amaranthe, Enslaved, Heilung, and More

enslaved.2.17.18.26

“Blinded by lack of reason, indulging the tales of doom.”

  • Amaranthe have officially canceled their North American tour with Seven Spires and Battle Beast. Those dates were supposed to fall mostly in August and September, so the canceling is understandable.
  • Remember those awesome upcoming Enslaved performances we’ll be able to watch from the comfort of our own homes? Well the July 30th edition just got better. The band has invited the fans to help curate the setlist.
  • Heilung have also made the decision to postpone their performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, which was scheduled for this coming October. The new date is set as October 5th, 2021.
  • We’ll close with some solid black metal from Somniate. This track is called “Of Fragrance and Light” and is taken from their debut album, The Meyrinkian Slumber, which drops on June 30th through Lavadome Productions.

CANTO: Children of Bodom, Amaranthe, Angel Witch, and More

childrenofbodom2019

Friday Canto! What a treat! This truly is the best of times.

  • A whole lot of change is coming for Children of Bodom. It was announced today that the final show with the current line up will be in Helsinki on December 15th. Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Blacksmith (bass), and Janne Wirman (keyboards) will all be stepping away at the end of the year. Whoa.
  • Emmure is back with a new track called “Pigs Ear”. Give it a listen if you feel so inclined for some reason. Emmure is also touring with As I Lay Dying and After The Burial the next couple months, just in case you needed another reason to roll your eyes.
  • Amaranthe have announced a North American tour with Battle Beast and Seven Spires in 2020. These dates are actually a ways out. We’re talking August and September, mostly.
  • Angel Witch celebrated the release of their latest album, Angel Of Light, with a new music video for the track “Death From Andromeda”. It rips. That album is out today on Metal Blade Records.
