I’ve been listening to the new Misþyrming literally all day and… god damn is it delicious.

Yo, check out this 360 video from Omega Infinity for “Iron Age”. It’s fun, even without VR goggles. That song is taken from The Anticurrent, which is out on February 24 through Season of Mist.
Another day, another massive tour announcement. Enslaved and Insomnium are co-headlining a North America run next April, with support from Black Anvil. Tickets go on sale Friday.
The Acacia Strain released a visualizer for a new track titled “Untended Graves”. Give it a watch here. It’s quick, but it hits hard. That single is available to purchase here, if that’s your style. They’re also on tour early next year with Fit For An Autopsy, Full of Hell, and Primitive Man. Large.
But we’ve got more from Insomnium! They debuted a new single, along with a music video, titled “White Christ”. It features Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ, and yes it’s awesome. Give it a watch and listen below. Anno 1696 is out February 24 through Century Media.

CANTO: Morbid Angel, Thy Catafalque, Anti-Flag, and More

Things I didn’t realize I still owned until I started packing… two guitars. Who knew?

Morbid Angel are back, and are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a massive headlining tour next March and April. They’ll be joined by Revocation, Crypta, and either Skeletal Remains or Vitriol. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday.
Next we have Anti-Flag, and their video for “NVREVR”, a track that features Stacey Dee of Bad Cop/Bad Cop. Their new album, Lies They Tell Our Children, drops on January 6 through Spinefarm.
And then we have a couple early full album streams. First up, Mord’A’Stigmata, who unveiled Like Ants and Snakes ahead of it’s November 4 release through Pagan Records.
And secondly we have Black Anvil with Regenesis. Also a November 4 release, through Season of Mist. Additionally, their tour with Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, and Immolation kicks off tomorrow.
Closing out we have a new live video from Thy Catafalque for “Fekete Mezők”. That clip is taken from Mezolit – Live at Fekete Zaj, which will be out on November 25 through Season of Mist.

Happy Halloween, IT IS UPON US. I’ve loved this day since being a kid and even though there’s no bag of candy for me come night time, I’ve had a treat bag full of horror movies since the month changed. But really, that’s an all year thing and no excuses needed. My point? There’s not one, ha. Anyway, speaking of horror and new metal releases, we’ve got two extremely well timed picks kicking the week off from Acid Witch and VHS that show just how thin the veil between horror and metal is. Following that we’ve got a banger from Black Anvil, more death metal from Ingested, and many more treats in the list that follows. Why yes, there might be some tricks here too but you’ll have to see for yourself. Be careful out there tonight with all the kiddos wandering around and by all means, watch a horror movie (PSA: Screambox is premiering Terrifier 2 today for those of us that didn’t have the option of a theater viewing and they offer a healthy free trial). CANTO: Hammers of Misfortune, Black Anvil, Powerwolf, and More

There was significantly more going on today. Let’s take a look…

For starters, the long-awaited return of Hammers of Misfortune is finally upon us. Overtaker is set for a December 2nd release, and “Don’t Follow the Lights” is available for streaming over at Bandcamp. Side note: that album art is dope.
Black Anvil are keeping the momentum up as we approach the release of Regenesis. They premiered a new track today through Decibel titled “29”, and announced a signature beer with Wake Brewing called the Black Anvil Stout. That sounds… absolutely delicious. Oh, and as a reminder that new album is out on November 4th through Season of Mist.
Powerwolf have announced their first ever North American performances, which will include dates on February 23rd in New York, and February 24th in Montreal. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday, and it would probably be a good call to jump on those immediately.
Aborted have signed on with Nuclear Blast, and have revealed a new single titled “Infinite Terror”. That will be officially released on the 19th, and you can pre-save it here.
And we’ll wrap up our Tuesday with Black Mirrors, and their new music video for “Lost In Desert”. That’s taken from Tomorrow Will Be Without Us, which is set for a November 4th release through Napalm Records.

My work is cut out for me this week. Ladies and gentlemen, today the Brothers Martinek™ celebrate a birthday. Which makes this playlist for them. Which means you’re going to get more Mountain Goats and Broken Social Scene and indie sad alt goodness than either you or I expected or intended.

Don’t worry, though. The others are still around with more extreme offerings…although who’s to say which is more extreme in the context of a metal site’s playlist? Bloodbath or My Bloody Valentine? Rotborn or Ride? Anyway, expect that as well as tracks from A Pregnant Light, Blackbraid, Judicator, Holy Fawn, Cloudrat, Black Anvil, Whitespade, Psionic Madness, Spitpool, Lamentations, as well as a slew of other tracks to kick your weekend off right.
