Where does the time go? Not only are we halfway through November but 2016 is almost done. And I’m pretty sure none of us are sad to see it pass, of course with the exception of the quality metal we’ve had thus far. I will miss that aspect of 2016. Speaking of, we have another chocked full list of metal on this edition of Initial Descent. Green Bastard rub elbows with Sleep and Yob on their fantastic debut Pyre. Metallica break an 8 year silence on Hardwired…To Self Destruct and yes, to answer the burning question, it’s a really good album, and one that finds the band in a form we haven’t heard from them in a very long time. HORNNS blow smoke rings of stoner sludge on Telepath, and yet another band breaking a long silence — 16 years to be exact — is Quicksand Dream with their epic brand of traditional metal on Beheading Tyrants, and Projections I finds Headless Kross even further down the psychedelic doom tunnel.
