Paul O'Neill TSO
Paul O’Neill — founding member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra

April 7, 2017

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

  • Leading off, condolences to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra family on the passing of founding member Paul O’Neill. Rest in peace, Paul.

CANTO: A 2016 Ghost tour, Rocklahoma bands, and more!

I’m not good at getting these done consistently anymore.

  • Ghost is back on tour! If you missed them back in 2015, you’re in luck. They’re stringing together a run of shows April and May of this year.
  • Blake Judd is back! Well, back on the internet at least. Apparently he is done with drugs and music for good. I wonder what 2016 will end up bringing him…
  • The Rocklahoma band lineup has been announced. Headliners include Scorpions, Disturbed, and Rob Zombie. How about a nice tall glass of ‘no thank you?’
  • So, this is new. It looks like you can now get Slipknot action figures, if you’re into that. Not all of them, because why would there be any kind of logic in this?
  • Oranssi Pazuzu have released a new track from their upcoming Värähtelijä, which drops on February 20th. The song is called “Hypnotisoitu Viharukous” and it’s amazing.

Retrospective: Nachtmystium – “Assassins: Black Meddle, Part I”

Alright, so Nachtmystium might have had a few tough years, which I will be getting into later. But in their day, they cranked out some the best psychedelic black metal the world had to offer. At this point, I’ve heard it all. From Reign of the Malicious all the way through the finality of 2014’s The World We Left Behind, there are albums that will be remembered for some time. One of the most definitive albums in this list, however, was Assassins: Black Meddle, Part I. Continue reading

The Horns Up Podcast: Episode 21 (September 12, 2014)

It’s time for Episode 21 of The Horns Up Podcast, your weekly catch-up on all things metal!

This week, the guys rave about their recent concert experiences with Fucked Up and Arsis / Allegaeon, slowly begin to come to terms with the new In Flames album “Siren Charms,” and begin to realize that football leadership–whether at a professional or college level–is really shitting the bed lately!

All that and much, much more in Episode 21, so check it out!

Also available on:

Live. Love. Plow. Horns Up.

Quickies: More Blake Judd stuff, Megadeth off Motorboat, and more. Kinda.

Halfway through the week. Still don’t care. Introductions to these things are a waste of time. Agreed everyone.

Because fire. Alright, go enjoy your Stage Dive for the week while I go drink a beer…
