Blood Red Throne

Halfway through July, and we’ve got another busy week of new metal releases for you cretins. For starters, Norwegian deathsters Blood Red Throne return with Union of Flesh and Machine, their seventh album in the last 13 years. (Can’t fault a band for being steady!) We’ve also got Stranger to Violence from Psalm Zero — the Queens outfit’s final release with recently-dismissed guitarist Andrew Hock.

Beyond that, North Carolina’s MAKE return with Pilgrimage of Loathing less than a year removed from their previous album, The Golden Veil. Plus, new stuff from CaïnaEcferus and more. So let’s dive in and take a listen. Here’s what’s we’ve got this week:

Just the Tip: May 20’s New Releases in Brief

It’s new release Tuesday! Here’s what’s on our radar for this week:

May 20, 2014

Devin Townsend – Casualties of Cool (Hevy Devy)

Castle – Under Siege (Prosthetic)

Comet Control – Comet Control (Tee Pee)

Timo Tolkki’s Avalon – Angels of the Apocalypse (Frontiers)

Full disclosure: with Maryland DeathFest beginning this Thursday and both Dan and Corey set to attend, this week won’t be a normal one for the podcast. Instead of one episode in our usual format, we’ll be doing a number of smaller episodes–hopefully with some special guests–recapping each day we attend. (Friday and Sunday at the Edison Lot, if you’re curious.)

So with that in mind, there’s no guarantee we’ll be discussing these albums on our next proper edition of the podcast. If we like any of them enough to reach back through the depths of time and recall them, then we will. But either way, you can bet your asses we’ll be listening to them, so take a listen for yourselves and then check back next week for our thoughts! (Maybe.)

Live. Love. Plow. Horns Up.
