CANTO: Nightmarer, Pupil Slicer, Signs of the Swarm, and More

I literally cannot stop listening to Terrasite. So god damn good.

Dissonant death metal entity Nightmarer unveiled a new single from Deformity Adrift. Stream “Brutalist Imperator” here. That album is slated for a May 5 release through Total Dissonance Worship in the US and Vendetta Records in Europe.
Black Tusk have a small handful of live dates coming up in May, which includes a performance at Hell in the Harbor Festival and a couple shows with Restless Spirit. Here’s the schedule.
Sigh have announced a new live album, Live: Eastern Forces Of Evil 2022, which will be out on June 23 through Peaceville. Here’s that preorder link, if you need it.
Ahead of their tour with Whitechapel, Entheos, and Archspire, Signs Of The Swarm dropped a new standalone single through Century Media titled “Amongst the Low & Empty”. Give that a watch and listen here.
Closing out, we have new material from Pupil Slicer. Check out the video for “No Temple” below, the second track taken from their upcoming sophomore album, Blossom. That’s set for a June 2 release through Prosthetic Records.

I was recently tipped off to this band called Winter’s Gate, and my life has been better for it ever since.

Entheos is dropping Time Will Take Us All on March 3 through Metal Blade, and today they revealed a performance video for “Darkest Day”. That footage is from a show in Knoxville last December.
Pagan folk metallers Heidevolk are only a day away from the release of Wederkeer, which will be available tomorrow through Napalm Records. To get us ready, they released a lyric video for the final album single, “De Strijd Duurt Voort”. Give that one a watch here.
Post-black metal collective Chrome Waves released the second single from Earth Will Shed Its Skin, with a music video, titled “The Nail”. That album drops on April 28 through M-Theory Audio.
Blindfolded and Led to the Woods are releasing their fourth studio album on May 19 through Prosthetic Records, titled Rejecting Obliteration. Check out the video for lead single, “Methlehem”, right here.
We’ll close out with the latest from Night Demon. With Outsider set for a March 17 release through Century Media, they unveiled a new single titled “Escape From Beyond”. Check out the accompanying music video below.

Looks like we’ve got some tour announcements to talk about today!

And we’ll start with Whitechapel. They’re headlining a U.S. tour with support from Archspire, Signs Of The Swarm, and Entheos this coming April and May, where they’ll be performing The Valley in its entirety. Local presales are available starting tomorrow, with general ticket sales starting Friday.
Next, we’ll discuss Voivod announcing the first part of the “40 Years of Morgöth Tales” U.S. tour. Those dates are in May, and they’ll be supported by Imperial Triumphant which is pretty damn awesome.
That last tour I’ll throw in the pile tonight features Weedeater. Truthfully, they’ll be on the road quite a bit in 2023, starting with U.S. dates stretching from late February through early April. The full itinerary with ticket links can be found here.
Alright… what else is happening out there? Stoned Jesus unveiled a new track titled “Get What You Deserve”, which can be heard here. That’s taken from Father Light, which is out on March 3 through Season of Mist.
Boris is popular around these parts, so we’ll wrap up our Tuesday with the video for “満ち草 -michikusa-“. That track is taken from fade, the third album they released last year in celebration of their 30 years as a band.

Now that my Best of 2022 list is finally done, what should I do next?

Progressive death metallers Entheos have set March 3rd as the release date for Time Will Take Us All. Their new album will be out through Metal Blade, and a video for “I Am The Void” can be seen here.
Next up we have another video, this one from Enforcer. They’ve revived the classic track “Running In Menace”, available for your listening and viewing pleasure here. Really cool how they came to this production, if you read up on it a bit.
Only video links today. I’m making it happen. Check out the latest from HYPNO5E, in “Lava from the Sky”. Sheol is out on February 24th through Pelagic Records. Speaking of Pelagic, I think 2023 is gonna be pretty massive for the label.
Epica released a one-shot live video for “Rivers”, footage taken from a performance in Chile. That falls right before Friday’s vinyl reissue release for The Phantom Agony, Consign To Oblivion and Design Your Universe, should you be interested.
We’ll head into the latter stages of the week with some pagan folk metal. Here is the latest video from Heidevolk for the title-track off their new album, Wederkeer. That one drops on February 24th through Napalm Records.

New Katatonia arrived today… let us rejoice in gloom!

Starting off, we have a co-headlining tour to talk about with Municipal Waste and High On Fire. Additional support will be in the form of Gel and The Early Moods. Those North American dates are in early December, and tickets can be found here.
Entheos are back with a video for a new single titled “Absolute Zero”. That track marks their first material through their new label, Metal Blade. Give it a listen and watch here.
Decibel Books has announced the publication of Amorphis: The Official Story of Finland’s Greatest Metal Band, a fully authorized biography of the legends, in English for the first time. Pick up your copy here.
