CANTO: Night Demon, Heidevolk, Chrome Waves, and More

I was recently tipped off to this band called Winter’s Gate, and my life has been better for it ever since.

Entheos is dropping Time Will Take Us All on March 3 through Metal Blade, and today they revealed a performance video for “Darkest Day”. That footage is from a show in Knoxville last December.
Pagan folk metallers Heidevolk are only a day away from the release of Wederkeer, which will be available tomorrow through Napalm Records. To get us ready, they released a lyric video for the final album single, “De Strijd Duurt Voort”. Give that one a watch here.
Post-black metal collective Chrome Waves released the second single from Earth Will Shed Its Skin, with a music video, titled “The Nail”. That album drops on April 28 through M-Theory Audio.
Blindfolded and Led to the Woods are releasing their fourth studio album on May 19 through Prosthetic Records, titled Rejecting Obliteration. Check out the video for lead single, “Methlehem”, right here.
We’ll close out with the latest from Night Demon. With Outsider set for a March 17 release through Century Media, they unveiled a new single titled “Escape From Beyond”. Check out the accompanying music video below.

Now that my Best of 2022 list is finally done, what should I do next?

Progressive death metallers Entheos have set March 3rd as the release date for Time Will Take Us All. Their new album will be out through Metal Blade, and a video for “I Am The Void” can be seen here.
Next up we have another video, this one from Enforcer. They’ve revived the classic track “Running In Menace”, available for your listening and viewing pleasure here. Really cool how they came to this production, if you read up on it a bit.
Only video links today. I’m making it happen. Check out the latest from HYPNO5E, in “Lava from the Sky”. Sheol is out on February 24th through Pelagic Records. Speaking of Pelagic, I think 2023 is gonna be pretty massive for the label.
Epica released a one-shot live video for “Rivers”, footage taken from a performance in Chile. That falls right before Friday’s vinyl reissue release for The Phantom Agony, Consign To Oblivion and Design Your Universe, should you be interested.
We’ll head into the latter stages of the week with some pagan folk metal. Here is the latest video from Heidevolk for the title-track off their new album, Wederkeer. That one drops on February 24th through Napalm Records.

I am intrigued by the tour announcements that have emerged today.

First off, we have Khemmis on the road with WAKE and Conjurer next April and May. The date closest to me is May 4th, and I leave May 5th for Ireland… but we’ll see what I can pull off. Anyway, tickets go on sale Friday at this location.
And then we have Rotting Christ, Carach Angren, Uada, and Gaerea. Those dates are also in North America, and fall in February and March. This one I should be able to pull off with fewer logistical challenges. Ticket links for each date on that run can be found here.
Pagan metal crew Heidevolk released a new single, along with a music video, titled “Drink met de Goden (Walhalla)”. That’s taken from their upcoming new album, Wederkeer, which is slated for a February 24 release through Napalm Records.
Violate Consensus Reality has been one of my favorite releases in 2022 (more on that in the coming weeks), so today we’re going to close out with the new Psychonaut video for “Hope”. Give it a watch below. That album is out now through Pelagic Records.

Bookending with Season of Mist today. A new song emerged from …And Oceans titled “Likt Törnen Genom Kött”, taken from As in Gardens, so in Tombs. That new album will be out on January 27.
Blackbriar have signed on with Nuclear Blast Records, as they work towards the release of their sophomore full-length effort. Today they unveiled a new track titled “Crimson Faces”, which you can check out here.
Dutch pagan and folk metal veterans Heidevolk are releasing Wedekeer on February 24 through Napalm Records. Today they unveiled “Klauwen Vooruit”, the video for which you can check out here.
Hour of Penance are re-releasing Misotheism on January 27 through Agonia Records. Originally released back in 2019, it will now be made available on CD, LP, and tape for the first time.
Let’s transition into the weekend with a new live video from Der Weg einer Freiheit for “Eiswanderer”. That footage was recorded during their last headlining tour with Regarde Les Hommes Tomber and Bizarrekult, this past September. And, of course, that track is taken from Stellar, my favorite Der Weg einer Freiheit album.
