CANTO: Watain/Mayhem tour news, Megadeth footage, and another arrest for Phil Rudd

I finally installed my air conditioner. This is a time for celebration.

So this first came up back in June, but more troubling news as emerged from After the Burial earlier today. Guitarist Justin Lowe, who recently suffered a paranoid episode, has gone missing. Our thoughts are with all involved.
Tour alert: Watain, Mayhem, and Rotting Christ will be touring later this year. The tour kicks off November 5th and will run through the end of the month.
Well, looks like ex-AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested again. This time for drinking with prostitutes. This was a violation of his home detention, which was supposed to span eight months.
If you wanted to know what Megadeth looked and sounded like with Chris Adler and Kiko Loureiro, here’s some footage for ya. They sound fine. Dave, well, sounds like Dave.
And finally, I was able to track down that lyric video for Amorphis‘ latest track, “Death of a King”:

Look at this—you’re getting two whole days of Quickies from me this week! Yes, Corey’s off doing Boston things and birthday things, (bEARTH-day things?) so you get me again. Let’s not waste any time—here’s what we missed in the metal world today:

Less than a month after the dissolution of Immortal, Abbath announced the lineup and record deal for his new, self-titled solo project. Joining the proceedings? Borknagar drummer Baard Kolstad and ex-Gorgoroth bassist King ov Hell. Interesting…
Since it’s been far too long since his last bout of word vomit, Dave Mustaine took to Twitter to proclaim new guitarist Kiko Loureiro as “the best guitarist we’ve ever had.” Unfortunately he’s still not quite good enough for a guitar lesson with him to be worth anything more than 1/6 of one with Dave.
Mike Portnoy made a really good joke today, when he suggested that his latest project will feature “friends and special guests.” HA! As if Mike Portnoy has any friends. Good joke, Mike—TBS very funny.
The latest metal album sales figures are out over at Metal Insider, and Metallica sold almost 3,000 copies of a cassette tape because OF COURSE they did.
And finally, our favorite band of the week put out a new video! Here’s Tribulation‘s “Strange Gateways Beckon”:

Quickes: Darkest Hour’s 20th Anniversary Tour, Megadeth’s New Guitarist… and More Tours!

Hey, it’s basically my Friday… but Thursday! So I’m gonna get these taken care of then find better things to do. Apathy!

Once again, the tour announcements are relentless. Let’s start with Darkest Hour’s 20th anniversary tour, which will hit the east coast this coming June.
We know Megadeth has a new drummer for the upcoming record. Well, now they have a second guitarist. Kiko Loureiro has officially been added to the lineup. Swell.
Next tour: Metal Alliance 2015 will be kicking off in late May. Deicide, Entombed AD, Hate Eternal, and Black Crown Initiate are featured. Holy shit.
Here’s some fun on Twitter. David Draiman and Jim Norton get into an extremely entertaining exchange about Trevor Noah. Forewarning, take none of this seriously. Just enjoy it.
Ok, fine. One more tour. Crowbar, Battlecross, and Lord Dying will be all over North America this summer. Because nothing says summer like doom metal. Still going.
How about a new music video from Septicflesh for “Prometheus”?

That video takes the song to a whole new level. I approve.
