So I was sitting around a couple weeks ago, begrudgingly scrolling through some social media platform (while contemplating if this would indeed be the moment the internet finally made me stab my eyes out), when I saw a light far off in the distance. And by distance I mean slightly further down the page. What was this beacon I stumbled upon? Lordi. Mother. Freaking. Lordi. And just like that, inspiration struck.

CANTO: Napalm Death, Lordi, Suicide Silence, and More
Another clean sweep!
- Some quick updates from Napalm Death. They have a new 7″ dropping on February 7th through Century Media titled Logic Ravaged By Brute Force. On top of that, they have some more European tour dates on the horizon. And by that I mean next month.
- Huntsmen have also announced a new album. Mandala of Fear will be out March 13th through Prosthetic Records. For now, you can check out a new track called “Ride Out”. They have upcoming March dates supporting the new album as well. Find those on your own.
- I spent way too many hours watching Lordi music videos last night, and I’ve been in a dark place all day because of it. For that, I give you a new lyric video for “Like A Bee To The Honey”. Killection drop on the 31st through AFM Records.
- Suicide Silence dropped a new single and music video today, titled “Two Steps”. Give it a watch below. Become The Hunter is out February 14th via Nuclear Blast.

CANTO: Fen, Immortal Bird, Cloak, and More
I need to go for a run. Also, some of this news is from yesterday. Deal with it.
- Fen, a band I love but feel like I haven’t mentioned in awhile, are set to release their next album on December 6th. It will be called The Dead Light and will be available through Prophecy Productions. Apparently Winter came out in 2017, so I suppose it hasn’t been that long.
- Immortal Bird have announced some headlining dates here in North America. They run through most of December and cover the eastern half of the U.S. Also, a reminder that their latest album, Thrive On Neglect, is out now on 20 Buck Spin.
- Lordi — because any opportunity to mention Lordi must be seized — have announced a new album, titled Killection, that will be out on January 31st via AFM Records. That will be the tenth studio album from the Finnish monsters.
- Check out this new video from Cloak for “A Voice in the Night”. The song is obviously great, and this video is very much appropriate on a number of levels. The Burning Dawn will be out on October 25th via Season Of Mist.

CANTO: Khôrada, updates from Ozzy and Mastodon, and more
“Hide my fears and kill my doubts, whatevers in my way. Poppin’ pills and drinkin’ booze,
smokin’ everyday. Stoned and drunk completely gone, my world is here to stay.”
- This was big news from last week that I missed because I was traveling. Ex-Agalloch members Jason Walton, Aesop Dekker, and Don Anderson have teamed up with Aaron John Gregory of Giant Squid to form a new project called Khôrada.
- How about some Ozzy related things? He previously said his career was still going strong and it looks like he means. Once this Sabbath tour over for good, it sounds like he will be hitting the studio for some solo stuff.
- How about some Mastodon stuff, too? According to guitarist Bill Kelliher, the dudes have already been working on new material and will try to jump in the studio in October or November.
- Might Jason Newsted team up with Metallica again? Aside from just praising the new material, the former bassist has opened up about his communication with the thrashers.
- Remember Lordi? I sure do. And now you can too with this totally NSFW video for “Hug You Hardcore.”

CANTO: RIP Adam Young, a new Gojira track, and more Baroness dates
“Pray for solace. Pray for resolve. Pray for a savior. Pray for deliverance, some kind of purpose. A glimpse of a light in this void of existence.”
- Some tragic news to start off with this Monday. Sockweb founder Adam Young passed away over the weekend. The father piece of the father/daughter grindcore act appears to have committed suicide.
- A recent update from Metallica indicates that they have finished writing their new album and are currently in the mixing stage. Neat-O.
- How about a new tour I’m going to be forced to miss? Baroness will be hitting the road with Pallbearer and will be in the northeast just in time for me to head to Migration. Yay!
- It’s been a rough weekend so I really want to close things out on a light note (before getting to the video). Lordi will have a new album in September. Huzzah!
- Finally, Gojira offers up an awesome new track called “The Shooting Star”.
