Ok, so this is my second column for Nine Circles where I said that I would go over some “insider tips” on how to properly market and promote your band. The first column seemed to get a good response as I had quite a few people message me and tell me that they enjoyed it. I’m really happy with all of the comments I received and hopefully you will continue to read/enjoy my ramblings.

Writer Profile: Michael Wuensch
Michael Wuensch is one of my favorite writers. Not only for his uncompromising opinions but his unrelenting personality that is always infused into his somehow poignant and intelligible writing. Mr. Wuensch can be found all over the internet but mostly he writes for Last Rites. You can also find him on twitter tearing people new buttholes, coming up with genius insults and generally being a laugh-a-tweet. Continue reading
Quickies: News from people not in Shadows Fall or Megadeth. That list of 10 year old albums is kinda fun…
It’s the Monday before Christmas! I wish my excitement was genuine!
- Following up on MetalSucks’ list on albums that will be 20 in 2015, here’s a list of albums that will turn 10 in 2015. Hypocrisy, Rammstein, and Opeth all represented. Still cool. Still feel old.
- The news out of the Phil Rudd just won’t cease. Apparently he’s convinced he’ll be going back to work with AC/DC… we shall see…
- So those Shadows Fall members have been finding new work. Flotsam and Jetsam have recruited their drummer, Jason Bittner. Curious how long this ‘hiatus’ will last.
- Most of us know by now that ex-Megadeth members Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover and begun a new project. They’ve recently announced that their vocalist will be Henry Derek Bonner. Hmmm…
- Not much doing in the way of new music videos, so here’s some shit from Marty Friedman:
I don’t care and neither do you.
“Ein Bier… bitts.”

Quickies: Album sales, 2015 tour announcements, and a new Dark Funeral video
I hope you all enjoyed those Immortal sock-puppets from yesterday. That’s going to be really tough to beat going forward.
- Let’s get the boring shit out of the way. Here are your album sales from the past week. Nothing new that I consider notable. But another strong week for the likes of AC/DC, Slipknot, and In This Moment.
- A couple of new tour announcements? The Contortionist, Revocation, and Fallujah (Yes, please). In Flames, Wovenwar, All That Remains (I think I’ll pass).
- What’s more fun than an Iron Maiden Christmas card? An Iron Maiden Christmas card that it applies they might be working on new material.
- Maybe not news, but MetalSucks gives us a really cool presentation of a number of albums that turn 20 in 2015. At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and Fear Factory all included. Crazy.
- Here’s a name you haven’t heard in awhile – Dark Funeral:
The track is called ‘Nail Them To The Cross’. It’s actually pretty solid. No news on an upcoming album in 2015. But I can start with this.
“Ein Bier… bitte.”

Quickies: Superjoint reunite, Corey Taylor gets iced, and more
What should we call it when Quickies come in late like this? “Late Nite Quickies?” “Quickies After Dark?” Put your noggins together on this one while I tell you what we missed today, folks:
- Phil Anselmo is reuniting Superjoint Ritual for a set at October’s Housecore Horror Fest in Austin, TX. For legal reasons, the band will have to refer to itself solely as “Superjoint”–which is lame, but hey, at least they’re not “Superjoint B.C.“
- So Corey Taylor took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS. While this is obviously cool, you really need to scroll down to the end of the Metal Injection post and watch Primus bassist Les Claypool’s video. Just…trust me here.
- Teen metal band Unlocking the Truth signed a marketing and promotional deal with Artery Recordings. The big takeaway from this story is that the Sony imprint they’ll be on is called The Cherry Party. What the shit kind of name is that?
- MetalSucks blogger Vince Neilstein did a cool piece for Rolling Stone on ex-Megadeth/Cacophony lead guitarist Marty Friedman and his new life and newfound celebrity in Japan. Check it out here.
- Inter Arma is releasing a new EP called The Cavern this fall. One song. 40 minutes. Get ready.
- And finally, didn’t get a chance to check out Trioscapes in today’s Just the Tip post? Well you’re in luck–they’ve released a video for the title track of their new album, Digital Dream Sequence. Check it out here:
Say what you will about Between the Buried and Me, but for this to be Dan Briggs’ side project? That’s talent. Anyway, that’ll do it for tonight. Check back tomorrow for more!
