CANTO: Dread Sovereign, Demon Incarnate, Burning Witches, and More

No shortage of items to cover today. A curious amount of new videos for a non-Friday… which we’ll mostly skip.

  • Anyway, we’ll start with Barishi, who have announced a virtual concert via Gimme TV. It’s a replay of their performance at the Stone Church in Brattleboro, VT, and it will air tomorrow at 7:00 EDT. Download the app to tune in for free and all that good stuff.
  • The next free concert stream features Burning Witches. That event takes place on the release day of their new album, The Witch Of The North, May 28th. Pre-order the record here, which is out through Nuclear Blast, and stream the event at this location.
  • You know what? Screw it. One more concert stream I want to share. I’ve been listening to their split EP all day, so we may as well share links to the Psychonaut and Sâver performances for Roadburn Redux. That was a great take on a virtual festival, and we should all be thrilled some of the footage is out there for us to ingest still.
  • And then we’ll close with a couple videos, the first coming from Dread Sovereign, who have also dropped some new merch at their Bandcamp site! But most importantly, here’s a link to the video for “Her Master’s Voice”, taken from Alchemical Warfare, which is out now through Metal Blade.
  • And lastly we have the new music video from Demon Incarnate for “In Disguise”. That’s the first one from Leaves of Zaqqum, which is set for a June 18th release through Metalville Records. Enjoy.

Rainbows in the Dark: The O’Reillys and The Paddyhats — “Dogs on the Leash”

It’s been a long time coming for the fourth album from Germany’s The O’Reillys and The PaddyhatsDogs on the Leash was supposed to be out months ago, but due to circumstances outside the band’s control (do I even need to say it at this point?), the release of the record was delayed until now.  As I’ve mentioned before, I have a soft spot in my heart for Irish flavored punk rock, so I’ve had my eyes on this one for a while.  It’s Rainbows in the Dark, featuring the best of all things non-metal and metal-adjacent. CANTO: In This Moment, 1349, Envy, and More

1349

I worked in Boston today. Therefore, I am tired.

  • In This Moment have announced their seventh album, Mother, will be out on March 27th via Roadrunner/Atlantic. A video for the first single, “The In-Between” is available now. Upcoming tour dates, as well.
  • A whole bunch of videos today that I’m going to share because time is short. The first comes from Envy, for “A Faint New World”. I’ve had a chance to listen to The Fallen Crimson (out of February 7th through Pelagic Records), and it is awesome.
  • The next one comes from German thrash group Surgical Strike. Their debut, titled Part of a Sick World, is out this coming Friday on Metalville Records. Anyway, here is the video for “Not In This Life.”
  • Lastly, we have 1349‘s video for “Through Eyes of Stone”. The Infernal Pathway was released last October and if you weren’t already aware… it’s quite good.

The Nine Circles Audio Thing: Frank S. Talks Some Power Metal!

Yyyyyep! That’s what we’re calling this thing now! What we’ve got for you today isn’t really a podcast, because it’s not part of an RSS feed, and thus not automatically delivered to your podcasting apps. It’s kind of an interview / review in one, I guess? Yes. But nobody wants to call it that, so hence, you’re getting The Nine Circles Audio Thing and dammit, you’re gonna like it.

No, really, you are; we’ve got an awesome chat with power metal guru and Nine Circles contributor Frank Santorelli! Frank took a break from his busy schedule — the dude’s prepping for a move to Italy!! — to discuss two recent power metal albums that crossed his earholes: Aldaria‘s Land of Light and Astral Doors‘ Black Eyed Children. Call it an “Ask the Expert” discussion, if you will? Or don’t; I don’t really care. But check it out either way! Continue reading
