playlist - mixtape

Welcome to another Nine Circles Saturday morning mixtape. This week, we’re sharing some of our favorite Entombed/Entombed A.D. cuts in honor of the life and legacy of L-G Petrov, a presence that left an undeniable mark on the world of death metal and extreme music as a whole. Plus, a whole slew of everything else we’ve been listening to. Tune in at the link below.

Album Review: Pupil Slicer — “Mirrors”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: grindcore is going through an absolute renaissance right now, and it’s all thanks to bands that are taking the familiar trappings of the genre and turning them completely on their head.  What better way to mix up the grindcore formula, one that is already all about creating as much sonic distress as possible in the shortest amount of time, and throw in odd meters, angular and jarring chords and wildly chaotic riffs, and you get Pupil Slicer and their debut full-length Mirrors, which provides just the breath of fresh air needed.

CANTO: Harakiri For The Sky, The Amenta, Pupil Slicer, and More

I should probably go outside one of these days.

  • So this is different and definitely worth a few minutes of time. Members of Archspire have launched an online cooking show? It’s called Good Morning Handsome, and you can check out episode 1, “Friends With Benny’s”, right now.
  • Harakiri For The Sky released a new single today, with accompanying drum playthrough. “I’m All About the Dusk” is, of course, taken from Mӕre, which is now set for a February 19th release through AOP Records.
  • Pupil Slicer, who just signed on with Prosthetic Records last year, have announced the release of their debut album, Mirrors, on March 12th. They’re streaming a new single today, “Wounds Upon My Skin”, if you’re interested in a preview.
  • And we’ll close with a video from The Amenta for “An Epoch Ellipsis”, a track taken from Revelator. That album drops on February 19th through Debemur Morti Productions. Get your pre-order on over at their Bandcamp link.

“Ein Bier… bitte.”
