CANTO: Suicide Silence, Constellatia, Bones, and More

An early afternoon draft because life is still upside down.

  • I guess we can start by checking out the new Queensrÿche. Give “Behind The Walls” a listen and watch here, a track taken from the upcoming new album Digital Noise Alliance. That one drops on October 7th through Century Media.
  • I suppose we can mix things up with some metalcore today. Check out the latest from Currents, titled “The Death We Seek”. That’s available through SharpTone Records.
  • This is something I wasn’t previously familiar with. South African progressive black metallers Constellatia are releasing their sophomore full-length on November 11th through Season of Mist, titled Magisterial Romance. With that announcement, the first single, “Adorn”, is available now.
  • Chicago extreme metal outfit Bones are releasing their fourth album, Vomit, on October 28th through Disorder Recordings. Here’s a preview clip. The release show they’re hosting on the 29th at Reggie’s looks like a ton of fun as well.
  • Suicide Silence premiered a new track today, titled “You Must Die”. That single is available for purchase here, and you can watch the music video for it below.

Best Megadeth I’ve heard in a long time? Best Megadeth I’ve heard in a long time.

CANTO: Weedeater, Abbath, Sepultura, and More

This has been a long, yet productive, week. Let’s keep it rolling.

  • Let’s start with a tour. Weedeater have announced some North American headlining dates. Those are in March (well, aside from the 2/29 date in Asheville), and support will be in the form of The Goddamn Gallows.
  • As Abbath prepares for his band’s upcoming European tour, he took a couple minutes to share this message. Sounds like he’s a couple months sober, which is great. But he also isn’t in corpse paint, which threw me off for a second. Either way, great update indeed!
  • Sepultura are releasing Quadra on February 7th through Nuclear Blast, if you weren’t previously aware. If you’re anticipating this record like I am, this album trailer might be of interest to you.
  • Here’s a new lyric video from Queensrÿche for “Inner Unrest”. That one was taken from The Verdict, which dropped last March on Century Media Records.

CANTO: The Great Old Ones, Visceral Disgorge, Asthma Castle, and More

Asthma Castle - Mount Crushmore

I saw Wayfarer and Falls of Rauros last night and now my life is whole.

  • As they kick off their European tour today/tonight, Queensryche have dropped a new lyric video for “Bent”, which was pulled from their most recent record titled The Verdict. Check it out.
  • Death metallers Visceral Disgorge are streaming a new track today, also in lyric video form. This one is called “Necrotic Biogenesis” and it will be featured on the upcoming Slithering Evisceration, which is slated for a September 13th release via Agonia Records. They have upcoming U.S. dates starting in September as well.
  • Asthma Castle, the stoner metal project featuring members of Pig Destroyer and Misery Index, have upcoming live dates in August in conjunction with the release of their latest effort, titled Mount Crushmore, which is available now.
  • Because streaming new tracks is apparently the theme today, let’s check out one from The Great Old Ones titled “The Omniscient”. It’s long and I am enjoying it immensely. Cosmicism will be out on October 25th via Season of Mist.

CANTO: Khemmis, Sunn O))), Borknagar, and More!

khemmis.2.17.18.14

Anybody else watch Lords of Chaos yet? Actually… neither have I.

  • Look at Khemmis doing stuff! The Denver doomers have just signed on with Nuclear Blast. Looks like new music and some tours in the works as well. I love these guys, I hope they make lots of money.
  • Sunn O))) have announced some fun Record Store Day happenings. Their next album, Life Metal, will be released on both CD and vinyl come April 13th via indie retail. I guess that’s cool if you don’t want to wait a couple extra days? Not sure what to pull from this news exactly, tbh.
  • So. Borknagar has a new lead vocalist. Who is it you ask? None other than I.C.S. Vortex… who was already doing a lot of vocal stuff anyway? Anyway. Andreas “Vintersorg” Hedlund has decided to step down, and there seems to be no negative feelings anywhere… So let’s see what happens next!
  •  A music video! “Blood Of The Levant” from Queensrÿche. Casual reminder that The Verdict, is out at the end of the week.
