Not gonna lie. Sure there’s been some great extreme music that came out this week (like the latest from Devangelic) but damn if this new Crown Lands albums isn’t some of the best Rush worship I’ve heard since, well…Rush in their heyday, which if you ask was pretty much their whole career outside of the debut and that small blip from Presto to Roll the Bones. So we’re kicking off with a single from the Canadian duo’s stellar new release before diving into the guttural extremity of Devangelic’s fourth album Xul.

From there the 278th edition of the Nine Circles Playlist goes all over the place, as you would expect. We’ve got music from the likes of Rotten Sound, Demonical, and the scorching new cut from the forthcoming Cattle Decaptiation. We’ve got technical progressive death metal from Pronostic and glam from Steel Panther. And in between there’s cuts from Planning for Burial and Chapterhouse, Oranssi Pazuzu and Gorguts, Lo! and Godflesh, not to mention a host of killer cuts to close things out, including Opeth, Sabaton, Judas Priest, and others.

CANTO: Blind Guardian, Sabaton, Tribulation, and More

Let’s kick things off with a couple leftover videos from last week.

We’ll start with Tribulation, who released a new video for “Hour Of The Wolf”. A reminder that the new album, Where the Gloom Becomes Sound, drops on January 29th through Metal Blade (in North America). Pre-orders are up here.
From there, what better way to get in the holiday spirit than with Blind Guardian? They released a special xmas greeting last Friday, and it legitimately might be the holiday holiday song I listen to this year because… reasons.
In case you need something a little more grim in your life, you should keep an eye out for the next release from Szary Wilk. The debut from the Polish project, titled Wrath, drops on February 19th through Putrid Cult. You can listen to a new track, “Mortuos Voco” right now.
Finally, we have the new animated music video from Sabaton for “No Bullets Fly” immediately below. That one is taken from Heroes, and was released as part of an advent calendar they are doing, and in celebration of hitting one million YouTube subscribers. Doin’ stuff!

My body hurts. That’s about all I got for today.

Gamers out there, you might notice that Rotting Christ was featured in the trailer for Mortal Shell, which is set for release on August 18th. Specifically, the track “Χ Ξ Σ (666)” was used, and you can watch the trailer for yourself right here.
Pestilence are hard at work in the studio, recording their ninth studio album. That one will be called Exitivm, and if all goes according to plan will be available later this year through Agonia Records.
Khemmis surfaced again today with a cover of Alice In Chains’ “Down In A Hole”. This was part of the Magnetic Eye Records Dirt [Redux] project. I guess this thing was a long time in the making, so it’s good to see it finally surface.
Sabaton released yet another video from The Great War. This one for “The Attack Of The Dead Men”. Give it a watch immediately below as you celebrate Friday’s Friday in your own special way.

Bismuth have announced a special release and a live streamed performance in the near future. The new single, titled In Tenbrix Lux, drops this coming Friday through Bandcamp. The show is scheduled for, well, tonight.
As the release date of Limbo continues to draw near, Gaerea has released a live version of the recently released “To Ain”. It’s twelve or so minutes that is very much worth your time.
Let’s slide a fun cover in today as well. This is Horseneck covering the classic Alice Cooper track “School’s Out”. Their most recent full-length, Fever Dream, was independently released earlier this year.
Sabaton have released a new music video for “Devil Dogs”, taken from their 2019 release The Great War, which is available through Nuclear Blast. Give it a watch below.

CANTO: Rammstein, Sabaton, Puscifer, and More

Happy Friday, everyone. And a well-deserved Friday at that.

Puscifer have marked their return with an appropriately named new track called “Apocalyptical”. That single is available for purchase, and they have a new album slated for a release sometime this fall.
Sabaton have released a live version of “The Attack of the Dead Men”, a track taken from their latest album, The Great War. The footage is from their performance in Moscow and features Radio Tapok.
Rammstein has officially canceled their 2020 stadium tour in Europe, which means the next domino to fall is likely their stadium here in North America. Is it a bummer, sure. But I support the call. They are looking into rescheduling opportunities, so more details should surface soon enough.
And we will wrap up the week with some hardcore out of France. This is the new video from Stinky for “Distance”. Of Lost Things is out June 12th through M-Theory Audio.
