The Nine Circles Audio Thing: Deafheaven was August 2021’s Album of the Month!

Episode 96 of The Nine Circles Audio Thing covers the fifth full length from Deafheaven, Infinite Granite. Buke once again captains the episode with Hera, Ian, Angela, and Vincent in tow as they break down the album, band, and how this one lands in the trajectory of one of blackgaze’s most enigmatic bands.

CANTO: Anomalie, Deathsomnia, Kowloon Walled City, and More

Days off no longer exist. Apparently. Late-stage capitalism sure is fun.

  • Anomalie, one my favorite black metal projects, has set November 5th as the release date for Tranceformation. Their fourth studio album will be out through AOP Records, and you can stream the first new track from that effort, “Trance II: Relics”, right here.
  • Deathsomnia released You Will Never Find Peace last Friday through Isolation Records, and today they gave us a new video for “Void Oblivion”. That track features Gabriel Franco of Unto Others (formerly Idle Hands), which is an added bonus.
  • And then we’ve got new material from Emma Ruth Rundle, another one of my personal favorites. Engine of Hell is also set for a November 5th release through Sargent House, and a clip for “Return” is available right here.
  • Oh shit! I almost forgot about this from yesterday. Kowloon Walled City officially have a new album on the horizon. Piecework will be out on October 8th through Gilead Media and Neurot Recordings.
  • Zombies are fun, so let’s close with the new clip from Ice Nine Kills for “Rainy Day”. That’s taken from their upcoming new album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood, which is out on October 15th through Fearless Records.

CANTO: Archspire, Deafheaven, Deathsomnia, and More

Coming at you a little later tonight because… reasons.

  • We’ll start with Archspire, because that’s a popular thing around these parts. They have a new album, titled Bleed the Future, dropping on October 29th through Season of Mist. Check out the music video for the first single, “Golden Mouth of Ruin” right here.
  • A couple videos to send your way tonight, and the next one comes from Deathsomnia. Here’s the clip for “Akinesia”, which is a track taken from You Will Never Find Peace. That album is out on September 3rd through Isolation Records. Pre-orders are available here.
  • Underoath is apparently still a thing. Their seventh studio album, Voyeurist, is set for a January 14th release through Fearless Records. There’s a new single out, well ahead of that release date I’ll add, titled “Hallelujah”. I know like three people that are going to be absolutely psyched about this news.
  • Obviously we’re going to round the day off with the new music video from Deafheaven for “In Blur”, the third and final single from Infinite Granite. Just a reminder, that album drops on August 20th through Sargent House… and I cannot wait to get my copy in the mail.

CANTO: Fractal Universe, Deafheaven, Hell’s Guardian, and More

Football is coming… to Rome.

  • Fractal Universe have announced “The Impossible Horizon – Alive” livestream event. That is, of course, in support of The Impossible Horizon, which just dropped via Metal Blade. The event is scheduled for July 25th, and they’ll be performing the album in its entirety. Tickets are available here.
  • Deafheaven premiered a new track, which we obviously need to include. This one is titled “The Gnashing”, and it’s further evidence that Infinite Granite is going to be some kind of incredible. That album drops on August 20th through Sargent House.
  • TesseracT have shared a performance video of “Nocturne” from P O R T A L S. The cinematic live experience will be released on August 27th through Kscope, and can be pre-ordered here.
  • That’s enough for today. I’m spent and have a crazy week ahead of me. So let’s close with some Italian melodic death metal… because of football going to Rome and stuff. Here’s the new video from Hell’s Guardian for “Sentenced”.

CANTO: Deafheaven, Behemoth, Dornenreich, and More

I don’t even know where to begin with today’s updates!

  • Yes I do. It’s Deafheaven. All the details we were looking for regarding a new album are with us now. Infinite Granite will be out on August 20th through Sargent House, and can be pre-ordered here. Better yet, you can check out the first new track from that album, “Great Mass of Color”, through either YouTube or Bandcamp.
  • And then we’ll slide into a tour announcement. John 5 will be cruising through the U.S. this coming August and September with Jared James Nichols, Sarah Longfield, and Black Satellite. Tickets are on sale now, and can be scooped up here.
  • I’ve heard a lot of good things about the new Dornenreich album, Du wilde Liebe sei, but I haven’t checked anything out myself yet. That will change today with the release of “Das Sehnen von Mond und Sonne”, available for streaming here. That album is out this coming Friday through Prophecy.
  • And we’ll close with the new video from Behemoth, a band I don’t mention nearly as much as I used to. It’s for “Shadows Ov Ea Cast Upon Golgotha”, which is taken from last year’s EP, A Forest. Check it out below.
