Good morning and welcome to another Nine Circles mixtape. This time around, we’ve got an excellent new collaboration between Converge and Chelsea Wolfe, Der Weg Einer Freiheit in 360 degrees, Capra live from Knotfest, and a killer audio/visual experience from Archspire. All that and more down below.
Did everyone survive the wave of shitty April Fools’ jokes? In talking about things that should be retired, that’s really high on the list. However, Metallum did an excellent job with the cat thing, I’ll give them that. Anyway, new week means new metal and for this round we’ve got a fantastic entry from The Lion’s Daughter who dive deeper into horror synth (very, very good thing), a brutal death entry from a band you might need an English major and a doctor’s degree to pronounce, Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, another artsy rock outing from Årabrot who just get better with age, and a chilling post-metal album from Kauan. All that and a bunch more in the list below. Dig it.
It’s Monday. Again. Just like last week and same for next week…maybe. Lucky for you, Monday means a fat stack of new metals to wrap your ears around and open your wallets for. As far as the top four, it’s a sick week if you like sick tunes and honestly, who doesn’t? Rhetorical, of course. Anyway, Australia’s Faceless Burial fly the 90s death metal flag like it’s their lifeblood but what they do with it is what makes this new album absolute GOLD, deathgrinders Stillbirth ride a razor thin line of brutal but technical death metal and grindcore with just a pinch of slam making this effort an easy choice for best of their career, another Australian band Yanomamo is making waves—or slinging mud—with their latest EP of psychedelic sludge, and Texas Murder Crew put an emphasis on the brutal aspect of brutal death metal on their latest. Go do the thing where you give bands all your money, tons of opportunities this week. Enjoy. Continue reading →
