I finally got around to listening to the new Gaerea… and it is absolutely awesome.

Melodic metallers The Unguided dropped a surprise EP today through Napalm Records titled 616. It contains re-imagined classics from their catalogue, and comes with some awesome video footage you can check out here.
Irae has set December 23 as the release date for a 20th anniversary album, Assim na Terra como no Inferno, which will be out through Signal Rex. Give “V Caminhv Primitiv” a listen here.
Cabal released Magno Interitus today through Nuclear Blast. To mark the occasion, they dropped a music video for “Plague Bringer”. Give it a watch, it’s brutal.
Experimental metal band Without Waves announced some U.S. dates this coming December, where they’ll be support Comedian. Here’s the full schedule.
Closing out the week, we have the new track and video from Chelsea Grin for “Forever Bloom”, which features the late, great, Trevor Strnad. Suffer In Hell, the first part of a double album, drops on November 11, with Suffer In Heaven to follow on March 17.

The last time I did something like this was back in 2018, but maybe I need to do it more. With so much music coming out it’s easy to just sit back and cherry pick the albums you’re already anticipating and write about it. And as many of our staff focus on things other than review writing (thank the heavens for the consistent and consistently excellent output of Ian) I suspect we’re missing out on a lot of great music that just isn’t getting the attention here at Nine Circles it should. So, foolish as it may seem I called out to Fearless Editor Josh™ with my request: give me nine promos for albums coming out this week, and I’ll listen and give some semblance of commentary for them. Ambitious? Perhaps. Stupid? Almost certainly. But if it gets some visibility for some bands and gets me attuned to some new music instead of constantly digging into the bins for rock and prog circa ’69-’74 all the better. So for this edition of Nine Circles ov... let’s take a look at some of the music coming out this week.

CANTO: Amon Amarth, Animals As Leaders, Ignite, and More

My Abbath-looking dog is god damn hyper. Unfamiliar territory. Anyway, Thursday news and shit I guess…

We’ll kick off the evening with the new single from Animals As Leaders, titled “Gordian Naught”. That, of course, is the latest offering from Parrhesia, which is out on March 25th through Sumerian Records.
Including new material from Amon Amarth feels like an obvious decision. Check out the new single and video for “Put Your Back Into The Oar”. It’s also available for purchase, if you want to add a picture disk to your collection.
Germany’s atmospheric folk metal project Mosaic has announced a new album through Eisenwald. Heimatspuk will be out on all formats on April 22nd. Check out the brand new track, “Wir sind Geister”, to get a sense of what’s coming.
And Without Waves also unveiled a new single today. “Sleight in Shadows” is the latest sample from their third album, Comedian, which drops on March 18th through Prosthetic Records.
This Thursday round-up has had a very Friday feel. The video we’ll close with today comes from Ignite, for “This Day”. Their self-titled album drops on March 25th through Century Media.
