CANTO: Alice Cooper, Vouna, Auðn, and More

Not a bad start to a fresh work week.

  • And all of a sudden, tour alerts are all over the place. We’ll start this week with the news that In This Moment have announced a tour with Black Veil Brides, this September through November. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday, and can be purchased here.
  • The next tour (out of two, I promise) we’ll announce features Alice Cooper, with special guest Ace Frehley. Those dates are in September and October of this year, with those tickets also going on sale this coming Friday. Here’s the purchase link. Side note, I should probably check out Detroit Stories at same point because… duh.
  • Vouna, the project featuring multi-instrumentalist Yianna Bekris, has nailed down July 16th as the release date for Atropos. The new album will be out through Profound Lore, and the digital album can be pre-ordered at this location. Check out the first single, “Highest Mountain”, while you’re over there.
  • This was one of those rare days where I knew what video I wanted to close without having to think about it. This is the latest clip from Auðn for “Vökudraumsins fangi”, the title-track from last year’s album, which was released through Season of Mist.

“Ein Bier… bitte.”

Anyway, “slower” doesn’t mean “slow,” though. There’s still a bunch of cool stuff dropping: from Swedish hardcore legends Victims (whom our own Manny-O-War just interviewed), to the debut full-length from Chicago death crew Nucleus. As you can see, this week’s no slouch — so let’s not waste any more time talking about it. Here’s what’s on tap for Friday, April 15:

It’s 5:15 and I could not be more ready to be done with this day. So let’s step right into today’s Quickies, shall we? Here’s what we missed in the world of metal today:

SPOILER ALERT: We’ll be talking about this album on the podcast this week. ANOTHER SPOILER ALERT: I’ll be gushing about it. Anyway, that’ll do it. Check back tomorrow for more!
