CANTO: Anomalie, Brand of Sacrifice, Abhoria, and More

  • Brand of Sacrifice dropped a reissue of the title track from their most recent album, Lifeblood. The album was released back in March originally, and this version of the track features Will Ramos of Lorna Shore. Give it a listen here.
  • Prosthetic Records have added a new name to their roster in Abhoria. Their self-titled debut album will be out on February 4th. Check out their first single, “Mountebank”, right now.
  • Updates from Bindrune Recordings are always notable. Nechochwen have returned with the title track from their next album, “Kanawha Black”. Give it a listen here. That album should be out sometime next year, so keep your eye out for more updates.
  • I’m a really big fan of the new Anomalie album, Tranceformation, so we’ll close with the new video for the third single from that. Check out “Trance I: The Tree”, and remember to pick that album up, which is out November 26th through AOP Records.

CANTO: Anomalie, Whitechapel, Omnium Gatherum, and More

Squeezing one more in this week, just because I was cleaning out the inbox anyway.

  • We’ll start with Anomalie, one of my favorite discoveries of the last couple years. Their new album, Tranceformation, is out on November 5th through AOP Records, and today they shared a new track titled “Cerulean Sun”, which features Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ. Awesome.
  • And then we have Whitechapel, who are following up on the news of their massive upcoming tour with Cannibal Corpse with a new track and video for “Orphan”. That’s another one taken from Kin, which is out on October 29th through Metal Blade Records.
  • Sticking with Metal Blade for another couple seconds, if you couldn’t wait to hear God Ends Here, the latest from Aeon, the full album is now available for streaming right here.
  • Wiegedood, which is kinda just fun to say (assuming I’m saying it right), dropped a new track today titled “Nuages”. That’s taken from their upcoming new album, There’s Always Blood At The End Of The Road, which will be available on January 14th through Century Media.
  • I guess we’re going to double up on Century Media today as well. Omnium Gatherum (also fun to say) released a video for the new track “Fortitude”. Origin is out on November 5th, and the aforementioned video is available below. Enjoy that while I finalize packing for L.A.

Days off no longer exist. Apparently. Late-stage capitalism sure is fun.

  • Anomalie, one my favorite black metal projects, has set November 5th as the release date for Tranceformation. Their fourth studio album will be out through AOP Records, and you can stream the first new track from that effort, “Trance II: Relics”, right here.
  • Deathsomnia released You Will Never Find Peace last Friday through Isolation Records, and today they gave us a new video for “Void Oblivion”. That track features Gabriel Franco of Unto Others (formerly Idle Hands), which is an added bonus.
  • And then we’ve got new material from Emma Ruth Rundle, another one of my personal favorites. Engine of Hell is also set for a November 5th release through Sargent House, and a clip for “Return” is available right here.
  • Oh shit! I almost forgot about this from yesterday. Kowloon Walled City officially have a new album on the horizon. Piecework will be out on October 8th through Gilead Media and Neurot Recordings.
  • Zombies are fun, so let’s close with the new clip from Ice Nine Kills for “Rainy Day”. That’s taken from their upcoming new album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood, which is out on October 15th through Fearless Records.

EOY 2018 Header 9C

I had a plan in January. The same plan I have every January: to only document the albums that strike a major chord in one way or another. Yet, here we sit in December and I’m debating on at least one or two of my locked list and mourning those who fell off. Don’t take ‘fell off’ as a knock either. It simply means there was no shortage of amazing albums this year and well, I just enjoy the torture of whittling away on my favorites (not).

I’ve spoken at length about how important music is for life in general and how important it is for me as someone that had a finger on the play button for nearly all 8,760 hours that made up this year. EOY lists, I love them – always have and always will. It’s a chance to purge all the best and move on to yet another cycle into the unknown.
