Chaos is Me: January 2021

New year, back on the same bullshit. Welcome to Chaos is Me, Nine Circles’ monthly roundup of the best screamo one man can dig up. If you’re joining us for the first time in this new year, welcome, and thanks for checking this out. If you’re a repeat reader, then thanks for coming back for a new season. 2021 is already off to a great start music-wise, with a few releases that might even have the potential to stick around come list season when this year wraps up. I called a lot of shots that I regretted in this respect last year, though, so for now lets just take stock of what are definitely my favorite releases from January.

Welcome back to Nine Circles’ monthly screamo-focused column, Chaos Is Me.  With the end of the year in sight, in lieu of a December roundup I wanted to take some time to highlight the best of the best releases that 2020 had to offer in this realm.  Despite listening to less music overall than in previous years, the albums I loved this year have been some that I’ve been more drawn to than ever before, and I want to remember all the good things I found this year instead of focusing on all we lost.  Consider this a montage episode before the new season of Chaos is Me starts back up next month.  Until then, check out the best screamo 2020 had on offer, according to one humble man.  Continue reading

Winter is here, and with it comes melancholy, early afternoon sunsets, and that delicious chill in the air.  In other words, it’s the season where I tend to lean towards screamo more than other genres of music. Thankfully, November came with a bevy of new screamo releases to get us closer to capping off this year.  Read about my favorites below the cut.
