I need to start getting ready to get drunk, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

A bit of a slow day, but let’s start with upcoming album news. Swallow the Sun has been hard at work and is set to release a triple album in November. Triple. That’s ambitious.
Wasting no time after Soulfly’s latest album, Max Cavalera and the rest of the gang in Killer Be Killed are set to start work on a new album. This guy has been working tirelessly for a number of years. How come I don’t really care?
It won’t be long now until The Ride Majestic finally drops. In the meantime, Soilwork are streaming one of the new tracks from their shiny new album. The song is called “Enemies in Fidelity” and it’s wildly… fine.
Today would have been Dimebag Darrell‘s 49th birthday. So let’s honor that with Pantera’s classic “5 Minutes Alone”.
Alright, now chill out to this new So Hideous track called “Yesteryear”.

Isn’t that something? I sure think so. Anyway, that’s enough outta me until tomorrow.

Quickies: It’s Our 500th Post… I think! New Stuff from Enslaved, Lindemann, and Faith No More.

I was told that this is going to be our 500th post. I could easily take a look at hour history to verify, but I would much rather do nothing and assume those words are true. So, that in mind, go us! Happy fucking Monday, ya assholes!

Lindemann has offered a taste of his new solo work. For those that need a refresher, Till Lindemann has team up with Peter Tagtgren for a project titled, simply, Lindemann. Those 40 seconds sounded exactly as I would expect them too.
Why wait another week? Enslaved has made their entire new album, In Times, available for streaming. I encourage you all to get on this shit IMMEDIATELY.
Septicflesh will be running through North America this spring with Moonspell and Deathstars. Actually, a reasonably solid lineup. I could dabble.
This was big news this weekend. Dimebag Darrell’s grave was desecrated and the responsible party’s appear to be tied to Nuclear Hellfrost (who nobody gives a fuck about). The ex-lead singer issued a statement taking full responsibility. Internet world, you know what to do.
On a more positive note, how about a new track from Faith No More? This one is called “Superhero”.

I enjoy it. Sol Invictus will be out May 19th.

I’m stuck here in Brooklyn with a little time to kill before I head up to Saint Vitus, so I figured to myself, “why not take on today’s Quickies?” Welp, here they are. Let’s check out what we missed in the metal world today, shall we?

Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier took to the band’s Facebook page to both thank fans for their support and reveal that the band’s begun working on a new album. Exactly what stage of “working on” they’re in remains unclear, but either way…YEAH GOJIRA! YEAH SCIENCE!
Zakk Wylde has weighed in on the subject of a possible “Pantera” reunion, saying he’d be just “a phone call away” from filling in for Dimebag Darrell on guitar if such a thing were to come to pass. Fortunately, such a thing will not come to pass, because Vinnie Paul has sense enough to consistently ix-nay it.
More studio news! Looks like Between the Buried and Me will be hitting the studio in January to record the follow-up to 2012’s The Parallax II: Future Sequence. I’m obviously all the pumped about this. No snark from me.
Hey everyone! Nails released two new songs today! Which means you should stop reading this and check ’em out STAT!
And finally, the folks at Metal Injection have compiled a playlist of their Top 10 Music Videos of the Year. Check it out below.

Not bad, but could probably have used a bit more Allegaeon. Oh well. Anyway, that’ll do it for today. Check back tomorrow!

Quickies: Updates from Cradle of Filth, Torche (and NEMHF for the few that care)

If you didn’t spend a significant portion of your day listening to Pantera (or even Damageplan), there’s something wrong with you. It’s been ten years. I don’t need to delve into it any further than that.

According to Jim Root, Slipknot have never profited from album sales. I’m sure there’s a level of exaggeration here, but his thought process certainly rings true.
New England Metal and Hardcore Festival announced their bands for 2015. Once again, I am unimpressed. Unfortunately, there’s no Behemoth to bail them out this time.
This Phil Rudd thing keeps getting weirder. Now, he’s been caught with 130 grams of weed. That’s… a lot of dope. He also made threats to a contractor and his daughter. This is an absolute mess.
Fresh off their massive deal with Nuclear Blast, Cradle of Filth have come forward with some words regarding their 2015 release. Hammer of the Witches isn’t set to be released until June 26th, but it may be something worth looking forward to.
Torche has been busy. Here’s their first new track in almost two years…

That would be ‘Minions’ off of the upcoming Restarter (appropriate title?). The release date is February 24th.
