It’s a bit late, but I don’t care. We need to get you your Quickies, and I’m not gonna let the fact that I’ve only just returned from a soccer game get in the way of me doing so. Here’s what we missed in the world of metal today:
- Looks like Napalm Death have a new record coming out in early 2015. This should make their set at Maryland Deathfest either unmissable or OH GOD WHY? PLEASE!, depending on the quality.
- Alternative Press issued a list of 12 bands who are “the future of metalcore.” Aww, that’s cute…they think metalcore has a future, you guys!
- The guys at Metal Injection have an interesting interview with Amelie Bruun, otherwise known as Myrkur, which you should check out if you’re a fan of Danish models making black metal. Or even if you’re not, really!
- Oh hey, looks like Jari Mäenpää‘s decided to stop complaining about Nuclear Blast and…possibly start a crowdfunding campaign for his elusive, Wintersun-approved studio? I know I’ve made fun of the guy quite a bit over this situation, but who am I kidding–when (…if?) Time II comes out, I will eat that shit up.
- Wanna hear a fat guy in a cowboy hat and ill-fitting coats of varying lengths howl like a banshee at you for 90 minutes? Well you’re in luck–Guns ‘n’ Roses are planning to tour next year! (Side note: I’m kind of amazed it’s been six years since Chinese Democracy came out. Guess who hasn’t listened to it once? This guy.)
- And finally, Guitar World found a 1984 video of late-Pantera and Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell absolutely shredding lives into oblivion as an 18-year-old. Check it out:
And now, I’m realizing that we’re coming up on ten years since Dime was killed. Goddammit…
Anyway, that’ll do it for today. Check back tomorrow for more of the uzh.
-Dan
