The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 281 (4.29.2023)

I’ve been knee-deep in devouring the new album by The Damned, and yes: I am going to subject you to their latest video. How many other original punk bands from the 70s are still kicking it cool 50 years later? But I’ll get the party started proper with the latest from Enforced off their new album War Remains just to keep my metals credentials active for another week. Fair?

Elsewhere there’s a lot of music to be had. We’ve got tracks from Thron, Cloak, Tanith, Wallowing, Pronostic, and a bunch of other one-word bands. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum we also have tracks from The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, so uh, I guess that’s a thing? I don’t know – we have music from all over the spectrum so just dig in and have a good weekend, everyone. And check out the insane short film from Portrayal of Guilt at the end of the playlist…it’s a doozy.

Get listening. Stay safe. See you next week…

CANTO: Astralborne, Khemmis, Cradle of Filth, and More

I can tell I’m going to be in for quite the ride until next Thursday.

  • Melodic death metal crew Astralborne are releasing a new album on July 18 through Prosthetic Records, titled Across the Aeons. Check out the music video for “War Vessel” to get an early idea of what’s to come on their sophomore effort.
  • Khemmis dropped Where The Cold Wind Blows 7″ today through Nuclear Blast, and gave us a video for “In The Pines”. Check that out, and hit that purchase link, here. FYI they’re also on the road through May.
  • This is something I’m obligated to check out. Host dropped a cover of the classic A Flock of Seagulls song “I Ran”. I actually see this making sense. I’ll report back later. The track can be found on their debut album, IX, which is out through Nuclear Blast.
  • I heard the latest from Enforced is a lot of fun, so let’s slide the video for “War Remains” in here. That’s the title-track from the new album, which is out through Century Media.
  • Cradle of Filth dropped their new live album, Trouble And Their Double Lives, today through Napalm Records. But they also gave us a video for a new studio track, “Demon Prince Regent”, which you can check out below.

Initial Descent: April 23 – 29, 2023

Pro tip: if you’re sending promos and don’t get to the point right off the bat (band, album, label, and genre) don’t expect a deep dive seeing as most blogs get between 50 and 100 a day. Just sayin’. Alright then, we’ve got a new week and fresh new batch of killer to get to. Death doomsters Pestilence kick things off this week in the sickest way possible and that’s a good thing, Enforced give a class on how to do death infused thrash properly, Vadiat get in the death metal feels, and Tunic offer up some exquisite noise which we don’t have enough of these days. So, dig in and find your new favorite. See you here throughout the week.

Enforced’s Knox Colby on their new album “War Remains” and much more!

It has been said that Richmond, Virginia turns out some incredible metal. Enforced are one of those bands that prove it with their brand of crossover thrash that nudges the gates of death and speed metal. With two incredible albums under their belts, their third, War Remains turns those on their head and curb stomps them…for real, it’s that good. We could go on and on about how good but our man Buke recently sat down with vocalist Knox Colby to discuss the new album, band history, Richmond’s metal scene, and so much more (you know how we roll). We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy.
