Since 1992, which saw the release of The Law, Exhorder has been out of reach in the sense of new material. And each restart was foiled before any steam could build for a real reunion/reformation. But that hasn’t stopped their legendary status from staying intact and growing or the hopes of new material, one day. Now, that day has come and that new material is Mourn the Southern Skies. 27 years is a long time. Things change, fans change, technology’s changed and music consumption has changed drastically but the band’s basic penchant for biting thrash metal hasn’t changed a bit. Mellowed sure, but the basics are still there and it’s damn good to have them back.Continue reading →
It’s fully warranted, at this point, to have the fall and Halloween stuff out in stores but I’m already seeing the xmas stuff out in full force. Seriously. I mean look, I get it, santa is a heck of a money maker but pump the brakes on everything except Halloween, just for now. Thanks. Anyway, we’ve got yet another great list of new metal this week so let’s dig in…
Exhorder return with a KILLER slab of melodic thrash and it’s so freaking good after 27 years of silence, it’s aggressive and in your face – welcome back! Cult of Luna push the limits of post metal on their seventh full length, Engulf offer up another EP of wicked good extreme death metal plus a guest spot from a certain member of Vitriol doesn’t hurt (mile wide grin for me), and Monolord slow it down a bit as well as trim a hair or two off their fuzz to make their Relapse Records debut a doom outing to remember. TONS more await…go do the thing. Continue reading →
Bask revealing a whole lot of stuff today. Most importantly, their third full length album (Bask III), and first through Season of Mist, will be out on November 8th. Better yet, we also get some new material. Check out the video for “New Dominion” right now.
I enjoy Exhorder. And Exhorder just dropped a new album trailer where they talk about some of the topics on the upcoming new album, Mourn the Southern Skies. It’s out on September 20th. BRB gonna watch this real quick…
Bloodbather, not to be confused with Bloodbath, have recently signed on to Rise Records. Naturally, they are working on new material, and while we don’t have anything to share just yet, you can take a look at the new video for the re-released track called “End”.
Hello. It’s me again, your old pal. You’ll have to excuse my absence, I was off having the time of my life at Fire in the Mountains in Wyoming this past weekend. Three straight days of camping, music, revelry, and the most glorious nature I’ve experienced in all my life added up to be one of the best weekends I’ve had in as long as I can remember. More about my experiences there might be coming later on down the line, provided our own Corey Butterworth makes it back from backpacking in the Tetons alive. But if you’re curious as to what my weekend was like, I included some choice cuts from some of my favorite sets in our weekly roundup playlist; it is Saturday after all, and that’s why we’re here. Alongside my own picks are some of the best new tracks that this week has given us, plus just about whatever else floats our collective boat. Tune in, turn the volume up, and get your weekend started right.
