Album Review: Anthropic — “End of the Bloodline”

The time is 5:17 am. You lie pleasantly asleep in bed in the middle of a wonderfully strange dream. The alarm won’t go off for another hour, hour and a half. Work is but a distant thing right now. Then it starts, the chirping. A bird outside goes at it, trying to communicate to another. You’re awake and now the chirping becomes the only thing you hear. Other ambient noises are there but above it all is a high pitched “CHEEP CHEEP”. It lasts for about a half hour and then the bird is done. You certainly won’t go back to sleep now because all you want to do is strangle the bird. On their sophomore album End of the Bloodline, Buffalo’s Anthropic, for the most part, perform solid grindcore. The guitars go from zero to sixty on a dime. The vocals are the usual growls and barks. These are things you want to hear from a grindcore band. So far, so good. The band makes grindcore with the aggression you want.

Exhumed’s Matt Harvey on their new album “To The Dead” and much more!

Death, gore, zombies, chainsaws, horrors of all sorts; these are all topics Exhumed have covered over their thirty plus years of existence and across a multitude of releases. The latest of which, To The Dead, finds these deathgrind masters as blood soaked as ever. You’d think that in that many years there might be misstep or something just out of place, but this isn’t the case as every single album is better, and more destructive, than the last. Buke recently sat down with split guitarist and vocalist, and founding member Matt Harvey as they cover the new album and how it came to be as well as some band history, juggling tons of projects, and so much more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat or a coffin lid, and enjoy.

EMBRACING TEMP LOGO

I missed a week or two. Oh well. Such is life. But, here we are with a fresh batch of shit for you to binge on, and it’s an incredible batch of shit, to be honest. Album Review: Miscarriage – “Imminent Horror”

miscarriage_imminent_horror_cover

People constantly talk about how metal is over-saturated with thousands upon thousands of new bands that are all doing the same thing, exactly the same way. The ease of the internet to get your release out there removes the inhibitions of metal artists to put time and effort into developing their craft. Those that pay attention to such things, are constantly drowning in cookie-cutter, copy/paste versions of whatever the most popular band of a particular genre is. For those that know where to look (see releases from labels like Sentient Ruin, 20 Buck Spin, Gilead Media, Vrasubatlat, wins most fitting album title of 2019), you often are able to find those that are dedicated to themselves and their art rather than to clicks and streams. Behold, Miscarriage‘s Imminent Horror! Continue reading
