Best of 2020: Chris’s List

If you’re reading this there are two possibilities at play, either of which warrant a hearty congratulations:

It’s the end of the year, and you found the strength, courage and forbearance to get through the infested muck that was 2020. Congratulations! I don’t know what 2021 will bring, but let’s put the future aside for a moment and just revel in survival, and talk about some great music.
It’s an indeterminate time in the future, after the apocalypse, and the collective hive mind has integrated into the data streams and come across this post in a random search string query to ascertain various data points about the distant past. Congratulations! I’m not alive to know what the Time Lords have in mind for the future, but let’s put that aside for a moment and just revel in whatever constitutes life in your existence, and talk about some great music.

Friday Cantos are for Friday.

For some reason, As I Lay Dying are releasing a new album on September 20th. It will be called Shaped By Fire, and yes Tim Lambesis is the vocalist. Why am I even talking about this? Fuck this and fuck them. Also, that song is terrible.
The remaining bands that will be performing at Maryland Deathfest 2020 have been announced. Bloodbath and Exhorder were two of the bigger names in this final wave. I did MDF, what, four consecutive years? And this will be the fourth straight non-MDF year I think. Weird. Not really.
Hey, a new GosT song. I guess I’m going to be listening to this over and over again now. It’s called “Wrapped In Wax”.
Check out this video from Kadavar for “The Devil’s Master”. It’s fun and western-y. For The Dead Travel Fast will be out on October 11th via Nuclear Blast.

All told, it really does feel like this week is going by quickly. I’m not complaining. Here’s some stuff for ya!

I like starting this with tours, so let’s do that again. The Sword has announced a massive 50-date tour in North America. They’ll be joined by Kadavar and All Them Witches the first month or so before Royal Thunder steps in the rest of the way.
We all know that Bruce Dickinson likes his planes. Apparently he likes selling them, too. The Iron Maiden singer will be selling jets through retail-giant Harrods in London. I’m all set, thanks. Because poor.
Is anybody voting for Rick Perry? Is anybody voting at all? Well, if you answered ‘yes’ to both of those questions, here’s a reason to change your mind. When asked what his favorite Metallica record is, the Republican claimed he had never heard of the band. Are you serious? Are you completely oblivious to to pop culture? I find that absolutely impossible.
For those that can’t wait until Friday to check out Battlecross’ upcoming Rise to Power, you’re in luck. The album can now be streamed in full. Neat. Or something.
