I don’t always like taking Monday off from this stuff because there’s so much going on, but life be like that sometimes.
We’ll start with Omnium Gatherum, who have set November 5th as the release date for Origins. Their new full-length album will be out through Century Media, and the video for the first single taken from that album, “Paragon”, is available right here.
Whitechapel have also unveiled details about their next album. Kin will be out on October 29th through Metal Blade, and a new track, titled “Lost Boy”, can be streamed here. Side note: I dig the artwork of this one.
Negură Bunget, which is just super fun to say, are also among those to announce upcoming new albums. Their final album,Zău, will be out on November 26th through Prophecy Productions. These always come with a new single/video, so here’s the link to “Brad”.
We’re going to close with the new video from Full of Hell because of course we are. Check out the clip for “Reeking Tunnels” below. That’s taken from Garden of Burning Apparitions, which drops on October 1st through Relapse Records.
I think I only did one of these last week, yeah? Let’s fix that.
I stumbled on this and it seems kind of fun. Ghoul have announced their very own comic book! Well, almost. It’s in the Kickstarter phase right now. And while I have mixed opinions about such a means of accumulating funding, I must admit that some of these perks are pretty cool.
One of my favorite bands going, Insomnium, have announced a North American tour with Omnium Gatherum and Seven Spires. Does this sound familiar? It should. The Insomnium Gatherum tour came through back in 2015, however Niilo had to hang back that time. Not that it matters, this is a can’t-miss show either way. Oh, and they also dropped a new video for “Valediction”. Heart Like A Grave drops on October 4th.
Yes, that title is a Dark Souls reference, and it’s a title I would like to have some day.
Anyway, it’s that time of year where we all just want to enjoy the last vestiges of holidays before the new year begins and we all decide to make lists. Whether it is for presents, things to throw out, or just a general shopping list for Christmas, we are bound to make one.
However, here in the hallowed halls of 9C, we are making one better: It’s time for EOY list season!
2018 was an impressive year for music in general. The sheer amount of releases this year was mind-blowing – so much so that I decided to make it into a top 20. That’s right: I expanded my list because 10 ain’t gonna cut it. However, there were a lot of albums left out from this list because they weren’t being as heavily played as they were supposed to be or they came out too late for me to actually put on this list (sorry Within Temptation!). I also decided to cut EPs from this list, as they deserve their own separate thing that won’t be explored until I have some more time. Let’s get started… Continue reading →
