Let’s talk about something near and dear to my heart; it’s October and nearly Halloween. ‘Tis the season for horror of all sorts, skulls and pumpkins, and fall vistas that look like the intro to many of the early Halloween movies. At least we’ve got that to get excited about. But also, it’s Monday which means new metal time so there’s another happy thing. This week brings us the next chapter of Pallbearer‘s trajectory which finds them back at their concise and to the point doom but, really, better than ever. Next up is a twofer of death metal starting with the brutal sort with Distant and the old school, rattle the coffins sort with Undeath. And, closing out the top spots is an alcohol fueled, four-on-the-floor, sinewy metal return from Raging Speedhorn. Better get your nasty decorating done and your costumes ready, or, just line up a long list of deliciously vicious horror movies. Dig in below for the rest of the new metal, tons to explore.Continue reading
Another Saturday and another chance to look behind the veil of what we’ve been jamming recently. Let’s face it, the world is shit right now BUT, shit in, shit out. So, how about we all hit play at the same time and just float away on the ether of the latest from doombringers Pallbearer, or metalcore from Jesus Piece and FINALLY some new Raging Speedhorn. Same can be said for the new Of Feather and Bone joint and a new funeral doom epic from Frowning. All that and some classic 3 Inches of Blood and Power Trip and Vincent drops yet another The Mountain Goats track for good measure. But, that’s only the beginning so hit that play button below and float off somewhere better than where we are at the moment. Happy Saturday.
Fall is upon us and I am not one bit upset about it.
- British metallers Raging Speedhorn are dropping a new album on October 23rd through Red Weed Records titled Hard To Kill. Pre-orders are available at this location, and a video for the title-track is out now.
- Pre-orders for the reissue of Rivers of Nihil‘s Monarchy are now available over at Metal Blade. Their sophomore album originally dropped back in 2015, and these LP reissues are out on October 16th. So we’re close!
- We haven’t heard from Corey Taylor in the last 12 minutes, so what’s he up to? Apparently planning a once in a lifetime streaming event that will include Slipknot, Stone Sour, and solo stuff… and apparently a whole lot more. Here’s a trailer. And here’s a ticket link.
- Icelandic black metal crew Auðn are releasing a new full-length on October 30th titled Vökudraumsins fangi. That will be out through Season of Mist, and a video for the first single, “Ljóstýra”, can be viewed immediately below.
