The start of another week, and I have nothing new to offer the world. Oh well!

Let’s open up with something fun. Tankard released a new animated music video for “Beerbarians”, which you can view here. That track is taken from their 18th(!!!) studio album, Pavlov’s Dogs, which dropped back last September through Reaper Entertainment.
West Coast deathgrind collective Deathgrave are releasing It’s Only Midnight on April 14 through Tankcrimes. Today they unveiled all the details including the tracklist, cover art, and most importantly, the first single. Give “Your Rulers Are Here” a watch and listen over at Decibel.
Dutch death thrash veterans Legion of the Damned are releasing their new album, The Poison Chalice, on May 26 through Napalm Records. Give the video for the first single, “Beheading of the Godhead”, a watch here.
The 2023 edition of ProgPower USA is pretty damn stacked, and today they announced that Elvenking will be performing on the first day of the festival, September 6. Ticket options, including single day, can be found here.
We’ll wrap up Monday with a new single from Svalbard. The performance video for “Eternal Spirits” can be seen below, and is available through Nuclear Blast. Sounds like they’re at work on a new studio album, so it’s safe to say more updates will be coming in the future.

CANTO: Dying Fetus, Conan, Memoriam, and More

The temperature hasn’t been above 0° F since last night, and it’s currently a balmy -18° F (real feel -36° F).

Doom metal legends Conan have lined up some May dates here in the United States, and they’ll be supported by Thra. Here are the all the details you’ll need.
We’re fans of the latest from Memoriam around these parts, so to celebrate the release of Rise To Power, here’s the new lyric video for the title-track. That album is out through Reaper Entertainment.
Heavy metal veterans Alcatrazz are releasing Take No Prisoners on May 19 through Silver Lining Music, and today they unveiled a new single titled “Don’t Get Mad… Get Even”. Check out the video for that here.
Los Angeles primitive death metallers Kommand are releasing Death Age through 20 Buck Spin on March 31. Check out “Chimera Soldiers” on Bandcamp, and then spend lots of money. Because it’s Bandcamp Friday.
Dying Fetus are going to see us into the weekend. Below is the music video for “Unbridled Fury”. They also have some tour dates in Europe this month, with another handful in North America come April.

It seems like just yesterday we were regaling our favorites from 2022…maybe because we just finished BUT that’s not the point. The point is, it’s nearly February already. Where the hell did January go? Doesn’t matter, but you know what does matter? This week’s batch of new metal and we’ll kick that off with one of my most anticipated albums from Sanguisugabogg who have indeed matured just a bit (context) but are still heavily brutal and still the ‘bogg I know and love, you will too. Then we’ve got the always reliable death metal powerhouse of Memoriam, doom and post-metallers WuW return, and Endorphins Lost trip the powerviolence trigger and once again prove their namesake. That’s a slappin’ top four but as always, we’re not even close to done so jump in and happy hunting. See you back here throughout the week.

Memoriam’s Karl Willetts on their new album “Rise To Power” and much more!

One thing is for sure, Memoriam don‘t need us to rekindle their storied history in this band or their members long and legendary careers. Basically, if you don’t know them by now you are on purpose avoiding it…they are just that much a part of death metal. For their fifth album, Rise To Power, it’s all about diversity and varying up the songs just a bit. And no, that doesn’t mean they’ve done a 180. It simply means, they’re building on what they’ve created over the course of the past four albums. Is it heavy? Yes. Still trademark Memoriam? Yes. Better than their previous outings? Our opinion only, but YES. Their sound is as vital to death metal as air and water is for humans to keep living and it only gets better with time. Buke recently sat down with the genre defining vocalist Karl Willetts to discuss the new album, how it came to be, Memoriam’s and its members histories, and a ton more. CANTO: Amon Amarth, Tankard, Stratovarius, and More

Hey! The Bundesliga is back! And so is the Premier League. Weekend mornings just got marginally more enjoyable.

I’m not far from my first weekend beer, so let’s lead off with Tankard. The German thrash crew presented the second single (and video) from Pavlov’s Dawgs, titled “Ex-Fluencer”. As a reminder, that album is set for a September 30th release through Reaper Entertainment.
Sodom are releasing a 40th anniversary album, titled 40 Years At War – The Greatest Hell Of Sodom. That will be out on October 28th through Steamhammer/SPV, and will feature 17 newly recorded tracks with the current lineup. Dope.
Ether Coven dropped their new album today, titled The Relationship Between the Hammer and the Nail, through Good Fight Music. To celebrate, they also gave us a video for “Consequences of Self (Let the Nails Carve Our Names in Rust)”, which features Howard Jones. Cool.
Power metal kings Stratovarius unveiled a new track, so we’ll jump there next. Give “Firefly” a listen here, the latest sample taken from Survive. That album is out on September 23rd through earMUSIC.
It’s a Friday, and it’s time to get aggressive, so let’s send ourselves into the weekend with some Amon Amarth. The Great Heathen Army is officially out today through Metal Blade, and we’re ringing it in with the new video for “Find A Way Or Make One” below.
