CANTO: Polaris, War Curse, God Forbid, and More

The sun is out and I feel like nobody is getting any work done. Nice.

  • We’ll start with God Forbid, who are reissuing Determination in celebration of it’s 20th anniversary. The limited vinyl edition will be released on Record Store Day 2021, which happens to be July 17th, if you weren’t previously aware. Additional information can be found here.
  • War Curse have released a new digital single today, a cover of the Anthrax classic “Only”. You can stream that over on YouTube. It looks like War Curse has a full-length album planned for later this year as well, so we’ll keep an eye out for that in the days ahead.
  • Terra Odium, a progressive metal project featuring bassist Steve Di Giorgio, has announced their debut album is set for a release on June 11th. It will be titled Ne Plus Ultra and will be released through Frontiers Music srl. Check out the first single, “The Clouded Morning”, right now.
  • The video of the day (VotD? Sure.) comes by way of Polaris, for “Vagabond”. That particular track is taken from the album The Death Of Me, which is out now through Resist and SharpTone Records.

CANTO: Enslaved, Dawn Ray’d, Ensiferum, and More

“A hammer not for building, but for breaking the glass. For bending the passion of days to the deeper will.”

  • Enslaved have announced a cinematic summer tour. In coordination with three different festivals, Enslaved will present three different shows on July 30th, August 20th, and September 30th. I plan on witnessing… all of them.
  • Dawn Ray’d are planning a limited edition release of Behold Sedition Plainsong, with proceeds benefiting Refugee Rescue. It will be available this coming Friday through Bandcamp (a day when Bandcamp is also waiving all fees).
  • In case you wanted the full lineup of Record Store Day releases coming our way in a few months, you can find everything here. I’ve got my eye on a couple of things, but we’ll see what happens.
  • We previously shared Ensiferum‘s new track “Rum, Women, Victory”, and now we have a video to accompany it that features fan-submitted content. Thalassic drops on July 10th through Metal Blade Records.

CANTO: Khemmis, Sunn O))), Borknagar, and More!

khemmis.2.17.18.14

Anybody else watch Lords of Chaos yet? Actually… neither have I.

  • Look at Khemmis doing stuff! The Denver doomers have just signed on with Nuclear Blast. Looks like new music and some tours in the works as well. I love these guys, I hope they make lots of money.
  • Sunn O))) have announced some fun Record Store Day happenings. Their next album, Life Metal, will be released on both CD and vinyl come April 13th via indie retail. I guess that’s cool if you don’t want to wait a couple extra days? Not sure what to pull from this news exactly, tbh.
  • So. Borknagar has a new lead vocalist. Who is it you ask? None other than I.C.S. Vortex… who was already doing a lot of vocal stuff anyway? Anyway. Andreas “Vintersorg” Hedlund has decided to step down, and there seems to be no negative feelings anywhere… So let’s see what happens next!
  •  A music video! “Blood Of The Levant” from Queensrÿche. Casual reminder that The Verdict, is out at the end of the week.

March 30, 2017

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

  • Leading off, Agoraphobic Nosebleed will be replacing Wormrot at this year’s Maryland Deathfest. As one of the maybe five jackasses to have missed them last time out, I’m quite pumped about this. Noothgrush have been tapped to replace English Dogs, who also had to pull out of their appearance.

CANTO: Updates from Bring Me The Horizon, Hellyeah, Crematory, and more

“Hindered by sober restlessness. Submitting to the amber crutch. The theme in my aching prose. Fantasizing the sight of Manhattan; that pour of a bitter red being that escapes a thin frame. The rebirth of mutual love. The slipping on gloves to lay tenderly.”
