Spooky season is here again. I don’t know why but around the 9C Top Brass chat it’s been a lot of talk of classic black metal, particularly Emperor so I’m kicking this week off with a classic from their classic In the Nightside Eclipse. But damn, there’s also a new Katatonia album on the way and I have the receipts for the night a bunch of us got drunk listening to The Great Cold Distance and buying out the remaining vinyl copies on Amazon, so we gotta include new single “Atrium.”
And after that? Well, the crew contributes a bunch of new and classic killer music. How about new music from Avandra, Veilburner, Imprecation, VHS, Become the Watcher, Kreator, Birds in Row, Faetooth, Brutus, toe., Satanic Tea Co., and so much more?
Two down, three to go. And the week gets really interesting starting tomorrow.
We’ll start Tuesday with a tour. Visions of Atlantis are covering a decent chunk of North America early in 2023, in support of their new album Pirates. Get all the dates and ticket links here. And in case you missed it, that album is out on Napalm Records.
Extreme doom metal crew Abyssic are releasing Brought Forth in Iniquity this coming Friday through Osmose Productions, but if you can’t quite wait that long you can stream the album in full over at the 666MrDoom YouTube channel.
And then we’ll move on to Satanic Tea Co. Why? Because the concept amuses me. The second single, titled “Human Tea”, which features Cryptopsy’s Matt McGachy, is streaming over at Decibel.
You already know what it is. Or, actually, maybe you don’t, because once again I’m going off the beaten path to bring you something unexpected, but nonetheless delicious. Receiving the Evcharist is our weekly feature where we pair choice albums with our favorite libations. Drink from the cup of heresy. This week’s offerings: Fange’s Pantocrator and Satanic Tea Company’s Dead Splendor.
