The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 255 (10.29.2022)

Spooky season is here again. I don’t know why but around the 9C Top Brass chat it’s been a lot of talk of classic black metal, particularly Emperor so I’m kicking this week off with a classic from their classic In the Nightside Eclipse. But damn, there’s also a new Katatonia album on the way and I have the receipts for the night a bunch of us got drunk listening to The Great Cold Distance and buying out the remaining vinyl copies on Amazon, so we gotta include new single “Atrium.”

And after that? Well, the crew contributes a bunch of new and classic killer music. How about new music from Avandra, Veilburner, Imprecation, VHS, Become the Watcher, Kreator, Birds in Row, Faetooth, Brutus, toe., Satanic Tea Co., and so much more?

Get listening. Stay safe. See you next week.

CANTO: Visions of Atlantis, Abyssic, Cassius King, and More

Two down, three to go. And the week gets really interesting starting tomorrow.

  • We’ll start Tuesday with a tour. Visions of Atlantis are covering a decent chunk of North America early in 2023, in support of their new album Pirates. Get all the dates and ticket links here. And in case you missed it, that album is out on Napalm Records.
  • Actually, you know what? Here’s another tour. Parkway Drive have some headlining dates in the U.S. early next year, with support from Memphis May Fire and Currents. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday at this location.
  • Extreme doom metal crew Abyssic are releasing Brought Forth in Iniquity this coming Friday through Osmose Productions, but if you can’t quite wait that long you can stream the album in full over at the 666MrDoom YouTube channel.
  • And then we’ll move on to Satanic Tea Co. Why? Because the concept amuses me. The second single, titled “Human Tea”, which features Cryptopsy’s Matt McGachy, is streaming over at Decibel.
  • Finally, some stoner doom to round things out. Cassius King offered up a video for “Abandon Paradise”, a track taken from Dread The Dawn. Give it a watch below. That album dropped last Friday through MDD Records.

“Ein Bier… bitte.”
